@Riot Can we get an explanation on why several things missing or removed from Preseason 5?

During early testing periods on the PBE for preseason there was few item idea thrown around that haven't made it into the actual preseason itself (yet?). These items were the Mid-Tier Essence Reaver item which had the essence reaver mana passive but no lifesteal and much less AD. There was also another item that was supposedly used to summon minions with a 'void gate' or such which never saw the light of day. What happened to these items?

Also another thing I want to know is what happened to the mid/lategame Shrine buffs that were at the top and bottom river mouths at around 20+ minutes into the game that granted Movespeed and large AoE Vision(similar to Quinns reveal) while standing still. Was this buff removed for good or will we see it again?
