What are your (Riot's) plans for Shaco?

Hi all,

Shaco is in a good place right now but a lot of avid Shaco players still feel unsatisfied playing him. The issues mostly fit into two categories, AD Shaco is strong but doesn't feel strong at the right point in the game (he is more of a mid game champion when he was designed to be an early game beast) and that AP Shaco top is being ignored for AD Shaco (the Shaco rework took away a lot of his identity as a pokey champion and the later change to his E made late game itemization very unsatisfying).

So, do you have any plans for Shaco? Full rework, minor changes? The fact that Shaco has had no skins recently leads me to believe a full rework might be what you guys are aiming for, but it would be awesome to know whether my playstyle (AP top) will be brushed under the table or whether it will be accommodated.

I know this seems pretty minor, but it feels like you guys are basing a lot of your decisions on one (admittedly, more popular) way of playing a champion rather than trying to make way for multiple playstyles.

I think that Pink Wards post about adaptive champions is worth looking into for inspiration: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/m8bA97WY-adaptive-champions-and-why-shaco-should-be-the-first

Thanks,

Peevsy

Yea Riot has proven over the course of every minor/major remake that they cannot make a good adaptive champion and will either put all focus on AD or AP never both. All the fun playstyles died from season 3 on. Only Shaco remains (PBE they are even looking to nuke nerf AP Rengar cause of the Q revert being too fun as AP Rengar.) So yea I'm in the same boat as you as an AP top Shaco player, but ever since the E change, I've had to adapt the build to include Duskblade.

Shaco is a champ that should never have existed in the first place. his entirely kit is based around aggravating the enemy rather than actaulyl doing useful thing.. if he is at all relevent.. he is op.

he is a nightmare to fight and even if your stomping his ass he still makes the game horrible. there is literally no fun in playing vs him even when your easily winning.

the design is just bad, i mean sure it fits his lore perfectly, don't get me wrong.. its just a champion that op or not is a champ i never want to deal with.. right now he has counter-play yes, but he ruins every game he is in for the other team.. and idk about other people.. but i play games to have FUN. and regardless of the state of shaco he ruins all the fun in any game for his opponents.

sure there are other champs that can come close to this level

Yasuo Zed (before season 7) Quinn after her rework Azir before some major fixes to him Kalista when she choose to bind to you Fizz the list of toxic champs with unfun kits to play agianst is long... but none of them can even hold a candle to how toxic Shaco is to deal with.

and honestly i can't see riot even really addressing this becuase its his LORE. that being said.. if you told me i would ever think Zed could be a champ i could ever have fun facing i would have said your where crazy... so i guess in theory its possible.

Honestly I don’t see much issue with shaco. Don’t see him enough and when I do see him most aren’t great with him.

There is a 50% Shaco will get ruined if riot touches him because they are gonna fuck up his Q especially now that he is the only champion with actual stealth(vayne can fuck off with her dumb ulti). I like to look at Shaco as the "surprise element"
