Why cant there be a mastery requirement on champs before you can play them in ranked?

It doesn't even have to be high, something like 10k, that way everyone in ranked games at least has some idea what their champion does. It also stops people from playing newly released champs in ranked and inting.

I've talked about this problem 3 million times. I have a fairly new account, my highest mastery is just over 5 and I'm gold 3. Which means, i wouldn't get to play ranked for a freakin year, learning champions i don't even want to play just so i can level them up to play ranked on the 1 or 2 i DO want to play. Very stupid and selfish idea, i wish you guys would stop suggesting it.

You get something like 1.5k off a win versus actual humans, so if you had actually leveled against humans you'd have no problem with this. Needing to actually play champs in different roles is a perfectly fine requirement in an environment where you can be forced by Rito to play whatever. It's selfish to not branch out or play pvp before jumping into ranked.

You play games until you reach 30. That's PLENTY of time. Riot has you wait till 30 FOR THAT REASON. So you have EXPERIENCE before ranked. So this is completely unnecessary

experience with the game =/= experience on this champion you're playing for the first time ever

Yea, it's so selfish to want your teammates to actually have some experience on the champ before bringing them into a ranked game. Sooooo stupid and selfish.

You are selfish for wanting to put your team at a disadvantage just so you can play a new champ you haven't practiced with.

Did you not read what i said? I don't want to play a year of games on champions i don't want to play so i can play ranked with the 3 or 4 i DO main. So shut up with this stupid idea, there's a reason riot didn't do it.

You are embellishing how long it would take. You are just like the person in my last champ select. 35% win rate in ranked and picked ashe support. Troll from hell.

bluefire mark 21 votes

No I'm not, i made this new main account last years September about, and it still only has one... ONE level 5. And like 2 fours. So yes, it would take a long time and i get you dislike people playing crap they don't know but winrate =/= play rate. If it's a troll it's a troll. That has nothing to do im with ownning things. Besides, you have to own atleast 19 champions otherwise every one could picked or banned. And 20 champions being leveled up is a heck of a lot of work one tricks and mains do NOT want to spend on champs they'll almost never touch again.

Then you don't play much at all and shouldn't really be in ranked anyway. If you can't put forth a little time then don't ruin others games. It's that simple. Stay in normals.

Dude I'm gold 3 currently and got to it in less than a month, call me trash i don't give a crap. WHY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD would i PUT TIME into champions i DO NOT FREAKING PLAY? HUH? I've put time into what I WANT TO PLAY. So i play what i want to play and not first timing. You are really god dang selfish and idiotic if you believe that this change isn't ridiculous. There's a reason riot hasn't done it. Because its a freaking game. I played my mains, tell me why i need to spend hours of practice on champs I'll never play in ranked- TO PLAY RANKED. WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK?

Ninjas Flossing1 votes

you're an idiot, no one is telling you to spend hundreds of games on every other champion. but if you pull out a champion we expect you to have a rudimentary understanding of the kit and not have our ranked game together be your first experience.

bluefire mark 21 votes

The other guy legit told me 20 champs so yes, pay attention damnit. I'm done with this thread, nothing here except terrible ideas that will never happen because riot isn't completely idiotic to implement such a thing.

mastery 3, you dont need a heavy investment like some who suggest 5-7 but it keeps first timers and people entirely unfamiliar with the champs kit out of your game

bluefire mark 21 votes

Three still takes time, and on champs i don't care to play no thank you.

You can have 7466897654567832 mastery points and still get destroyed by the dude first timing a champion. Mastery points literally means nothing. You can cruise your way through every single match or just play the dumbest builds imaginable and those mastery points still count like if someone was trying to learn and understand the champion in question. Champion mastery is way less important than actual player skill. A bronze player will still play like a bronze player regardless of mastery points, just like a diamond player will still play like a diamond player regardless of mastery points

Ninjas Flossing2 votes

a trillion mastery points are no different than a few thousand but the requirement for mastery 3 at least means you are familiar with the kit vs someone who hasn't even read the damn tooltips yet

jng dif victim2 votes

im totally with u on that. if anyone is good with any champion they can get mastery 7 in like 2-3 days max playing normal games easy.

Ninjas Flossing2 votes

mastery 3 maybe would be a decent point to limit people behind. enough games to be familiar with the kit but not demanding that you no life league for a month before you can use them in ranked

Banuvan1 votes

Because Riot is too scared to actually make good changes to ranked. I know Smite does this.

hiyares1 votes

the problem that you all always seem to forget when this is brought up is you need to have the mastery points not only on lets say your main lane but on anything you might want to bring out and then the minimum of champs just to play ranked. which is like aht 20 min? th issue is that people wont want to level that many champs and then you have one tricks ad then you have smurfs who buy their champs giving riot more money...

Saianna1 votes

Simple: Riot knows that some players buy their champions and skins with RP. They wouldn't want to hinder those players experiences with some limits or gates. That simple tbh
