Alrighty. After 3 weeks of playing post-change Taliyah, I think it's time for some fine-tuning.

So I've gained 42.4 Mastery Points on her ever since her change and it still feels like she needs some changes in order to make her feel as welcoming and satisfying to play as possible. Some changes I have in mind are:
-
Make
's W's targeting reticle clearer. As of right now, aiming the skill depends on pure muscle memory as the AOE radius on the knockup is not shown to the user. This doesn't affect
mains/players as much, but it is detrimental to newer players who want to pick
up for the first time. They don't know the radius of it and would be discouraged to continue playing her if they cannot land her main CC ability consistently. Riot wanted
to be more welcoming to newer players and this does the exact opposite. -
Make
's W's cast on the first press of the left click. The skill currently casts on the click, drag, and release of the left click, which increased the delay of the skill altogether. On top of the initial delay of the skill itself, this makes it much more harder to land on mobile champions such as
and
.
Being her main CC ability, increased input delay is inconvenient and it becomes frustrating. To avoid this input delay and to bring the feeling of the old W back, the skill should activate as soon as left click is held down. Then the user can drag in a direction while it is being cast, much like how the user could choose a direction with the old W. This change brings me to my next change...
- Make
's W be able to knock people vertically upwards again. The Vector Cast controls unintentionally removed this variation and personally, I cannot tell you people how many times I've screwed up because of my habit of activating W once and leaving it that way to knock up. I've knocked enemies away and saved them. I've knocked enemies too close and they gained the distance required to kill me. I've knocked enemies to the side and saved them from bad positioning.
Something other people have suggested is that while the left click is held down, if the user quickly releases left click after casting W, the skill should not pick a direction and instead vertically knock enemies in the radius upwards. This way
can have the flexibility she once had and no longer have to CC enemies knowing it could mess with her own teammates.
- Return her identity as a movement speed-based Disruption mage, not a Combo mage. ONLY make her E Lockout again when she casts W much like how
's skills go on a CD when she casts any one of her songs. Lower the falloff damage on her E to about 9% from 15%.
should be able to cast Q and R while using Seismic Shove.
The W change affected
a lot more than most people think. The Lockout removal was POWERFUL and it was there for a reason. It was to limit her power and to show that she isn't supposed to be able to combo W E together. This was hated by the community for being sluggish and I think the hatred stems from the Lockout mechanic, NOT the fact that her W isn't Vector Casting. What most people don't realize is that Riot BALANCED HER TO BE A COMBO MAGE. They put the falloff damage there because of how she is able to combo W into E now. This turned her playstyle from a "high risk, high reward" into a "medium risk, medium reward". She had to go quite close for a mage to perform her combo before, but if performed correctly it rewards her with high damage.
As for her identity, she still heavily relies on movement speed and constant re-positioning. What her W isn't anymore is a disruption tool. It was made to throw people into an already placed E minefield. That is the intended design to her damage output. Performing W into E makes her play in a much more binary and selfish fashion much like Lux does. Throw out your CC and then chain the rest of your moves with it. Rinse and Repeat. Something I did back then was to use it as a vertical knockup so my teammates can follow up easily. I rarely ever use my W to assist teammates anymore because of how I'm forced to choose a direction. Also, why waste it like that if it could do something better like combo into your own E? Less risk and a safer choice altogether.
One of the main problems is that Vector Casting does not go well with mobility. When you constantly have to move, clicking, dragging, and then releasing is too slow. By the time you drag, the enemy is almost outside of the radius and you have to right click to cancel the targeting and try to aim again. This becomes fidgety and an overall disadvantage that limits
. Unless you can preempt very well and get the targeting on the dot, you're going to miss or have to re-position and aim again.

Wow. I could write an essay on changes for
and how it would make her better, but that's the gist of it. All in all, I really hope these changes are applied.
was never meant to be a Combo mage as shown through her first iteration and it should be that way. The removal of Lockout, change in casting controls, and nerfs that are meant to balance her like a Combo mage smudged her identity as an inexperienced Disruption mage who is still trying to control her powers.
Comment about what you think about these changes and hopefully Riot would make her great again.
