Ryze rework

Ryze was my only mastery 7 and my most played champ before this terrible rework. Ive played him a few times since and he is just horrible. I dont know how Riot could take such a fun, fast paced champion and turn him into a boring dull mess. His winrate has either been last or second last in top/mid and I don't see riot addressing this at all. No one plays him, he isnt touched in competitive anymore. It was failed rework and should be reverted.

I'm sorry he's not your cup of tea anymore. He was too fast-paced for me before this latest rework and is still too fast-paced. He is a very hard champion to master.

He definitely was played in the EU competitively, I saw Faker playing him earlier today on stream I think, and I suspect we'll see him in Worlds. Think there's still some probably tricks with him we don't know yet.

Why did you take away Ryze and rework him into a competitive-only champion? You can't deny that his ult has a way more power in coordinated teams. You've essentially Rek'Sai'd him. He will never ever get a fair shot of being balanced for us because of his hidden power in coordinated groups.

So what we get is a garbage watered down version of him because if he is ever even remotely viable in SoloQ, he will be 100% pick/ban in LCS again. You've done this to Kalista Azir RekSai Vladimir already and it needs to stop

You do know that this is a team based game, right?

implying LCS is even the same game as a bunch of strangers thrown into a team to play a single match together

Of course, but that doesn't mean the cooperative element of the game shouldn't be encouraged.

His ult isn't really strong enough to kick him completely out of lower play. I think he's more of a experienced Ryze-only champion rather than a competitive-only champion, which is kinda what he was pre-rework anyway. If you take the time to learn him, he's unique, fun for some, and relatively rewarding. And remember, he hasn't actually been nerfed yet. In fact, all he's gotten is a buff to his ult, of all things.

A buff to his ult? Thats why no one takes it to like level 11 or higher....

Yeah, it definitely seems like he was tailored straight out of normal play. In game, I think I've seen Ryze ult maybe 3 times. It's just far too clumsy to use without voice chat.

Didnt see him in a single LCK or NA LCS game... That's pretty bad seeing as how he was played a lot in every region before the rework. If we see him at worlds it'll be to feed lol.

He has a really high ban rate and has been picked multiple times since his rework.

Just because he's not current meta doesn't mean he's bad.

Nah. As it comes to fast paced, every dmg combo u mess up the more u get punished. So it basically makes you think about doing ur combo slowly so u dony mess up. Lets take his old self, it let him do dmg in any combo he did and still get the dmg in. He didnt had any specific combo at the time. I could pull anything and still do dmg. Now, ryze is like a soldier. Very disciplined about his combo or he is stuck with his cd in between an assassin meta. The meta where leBlanc and Zed are spammed 24/7.

sure we´ll see him in worlds, he´s just as broken as he had been last year...

It was far from a failed rework imho. He's more fun then before imho, and 10x healthier.

However he is weaker it appears.

Ryze is so much more fun doe imo.

What problems do you have with Ryze specifically? What makes him a boring dull mess?

What problems do you have with Ryze specifically? What makes him a boring dull mess? He isnt a spell machine gun anymore, he always has been. His ult used to be super fun and really strong now it just sucks. Half the time you ult in and give the sona/wukong/malph a free multi man ult. His run and cast animations look really stupid now imo as well.

I recommend you experiment some more on the new Ryze. He's still a strong champion but he's even harder to play than he used to be.

I don't understand why you say he doesn't machine gun.

The old Ryze combo for max damage was Q E Q W Q E Q. The new Ryze combo for max damage is Q E Q W Q E Q. Nothing actually changed there (but note that to do that fluidly you need to approach 40% cdr).

Honestly, I do really miss Ryze's old ultimate. I can't really make the new one work, I feel it's clunky and unintuitive. Furthermore, it doesn't reset Q as old ultimate did. Nevertheless, if you choose to not put points in your R until 17 and 18, Ryze is still pretty good.

He was designed to be a combo mage, but he just ended up vomiting so much damage out of nowhere that Kog'Maw would be jealous. Which might I add would be okay, but a big part is that it was also super unclear what happened other than "ryze waved his arms up and down and my health bar disappeared."

This is what you should be looking at. He has a decent skill curve, so players who have not reached an effective level of mastery will often abandon him as a champion. Players who continue to master him will often achieve a higher winrate.

He is kinda hard to learn at first but he actually ain't that different. The thing is that he is been given more options that before and which combo jr wanna choose for instance W E Q is for less root but more damage while E W Q is for more root but less damage

And he is still combo machine Q E Q W Q E Q < - thats quite alot abilities in short time

People don't play him much cause either they haven't figure him out yet or he is banned He was picked in competitive after last rework

I'm actually so sad. I HAVE been trying new Ryze and he isn't strong... He isn't fun. You can't gap close and your range is the same. Without the old ult someone has to run into your short range before you can do your work. I absolutely loved Ryze and I can't enjoy this new one.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

New one is a lot healthier than the old one, but I do want to admit that the new one now requires a lot more mechanical skills than the old one.

Imo, the old was kinda toxic in gameplay. Here's a comparison to their strengths:

http://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/4.4.3/img/champion/Ryze.png :

  • Spam spells til you reached 3 or 4 stacks.
  • Faceroll the keyboard for those AoE damages along with your permasnare combos.
  • Shield, bonus movement speed, wave clearing & tons of damage all at once are unhealthy.

  • Wave clearing is now situational & requires timing.
  • Multiple combos for multiple strength purposes.
  • Have to decide whether getting bonus ms & shield or tons of damage is needed in critical situations.
  • More team reliant in terms of engaging with his ult.
