I'm a support main. Needless to say, I love me some CDR. I LIVE for CDR. Nothing makes me happier than casting tons and tons of spells, especially as a support.

I am absolutely furious about this new patch.

The new "Eye" items that build out of gold items could have been amazing. It could have been a really, really great idea. BUT THEY HAVE NO CDR ON THEM. Additionally, Lucidity Boots have 5% less CDR on them this patch. That adds up to 15% CDR that you have to get somewhere else, which is an entire item's worth. This is an atrocious nerf to supports across the board. The more CDR a support has, the more utility they can lay down, and that's what they're for. Riot, I thought the "eye" items were supposed to INCREASE efficiency? You made a role that tons of people already hate to play and made it suck worse early, because no one will buy a FCQ over an Eye. At least FotM and Talisman actives are kind of useful, but FQC can't beat out Eye.

AND NO, HAVING 45% ENDGAME DOESN'T MAKE UP FOR IT. A GAME DOESN'T EVEN LAST THAT OFTEN HALF THE TIME.

Rito, give me my CDR back or give me a damn good reason why you took it all from me.

Supports: you're going to need CDR glyphs and a Quint and several items if you want CDR. ADCs: Here you go! 30% cdr free because you built crit!

What Champ do you play? For squishy Supports I usually go (full build) Talisman of Ascension;Boots;Ruby Sightstone; Zekes Harbinger, Locket of the Iron Solari;Mikaels Crucible.

Since I want to hit the 45% I usually build like this:

Ancient Coin=>Nomad's Medallion=>Sightstone=>Talisman of Ascension=>Boots=>Zeke's Harbinger. At that point, its normaly the eraly midgame. Laning is over Teamfight start. Now I am at 25%CDR. But I want 45. So since I know I want Locket and Crucible, I buy: Kindlegem=>Forbidden Idol.

At that point, I maxed out on 45% CDR, with some nice HP and Armor to back me up and enough mana to never run out. And that only costs me 7500 gold in total. With the early Talisman and the +1Gold per last hit and +3 gold per hit on enemy masteries, thats not so much to get. If the game is going slow, you can delay Zekes and only buy the Glacial Shroud. That reduces the cost for 45% CDR to 6150 gold.

The new Support Items are garbage anyway. You lose way too much value, much more than one Item slot for a support is worth. Just the 10% CDR for Items is worth more than these crap excuses for a support Item. If you buy them, you failed as a support anyway.

I'm not following. The whole point of the Eye items is if your team is doing so well that you wanna get some selfish items. Tanky? Get FH. AP? Get Morello's.

Pick up lucidity and a gold item and your CDR is 40%.

Besides, losing 5% is not that big of a deal. Just because you CAN get 40% cdr easily doesn't mean you should. More utility is great, but you also need to build other things, like survivability or offense depending on your role.

the "efficiency" comes from them sticking Sightstone into the gold income item. that's it. that's all it was meant to do. as for CDR, try Sheen which might not have AP anymore (unless you make it a LichBane, which works well on Soraka) bot it now has 10% CDR and I think it still has it's slow zone ability.

Icebourne Gauntlet got a nice CDR buff. Try that, depending on who you're playing.

Your support - if you built sightstone + support item - now has an extra item slot. You can feel free to snag a Frozen Heart to (help) deal with their amped AD, or something else with CDR.

The option of gaining 5% cd on the masteries that doesn't account to max CDR is powerful. Supports have a lot of options for CDR.

I don't get why you're acting as if Riot is forcing you to buy the Eye items? You are still entirely capable of getting the CDR from the fully upgraded support items, and FQC in particular is about 500x better than it was last season, and is a totally legitimate purchase now. Lucidity change is honestly a good thing because it means you can feel less bad about rushing it for a big boost of CDR late game when you inevitably go massively over the max late. Lucidity is more efficient now, and allowing you to use summoners more often is a nice exchange for the old 5% CDR.

I've supported several times on this patch and each time I hit 40% CDR with ease. I didn't buy an Eye item because ... I didn't want to. And it was fine.

To be honest, I haven't had even the smallest hint of this problem. I'm not having any issues getting CDR as a support. I never took Lucidity boots anyway because mobis are just so necessary to roam, and I'm not rushing to make the new eye items (they're only for slot efficiency, which I don't need early) so they're not delaying my CDR either. I'll still buy talisman any game that I get a coin, and I can only buy FQC more because I literally never finished it last patch (buy frostfang, leave it there until I sell it). I'm still getting the same amount of CDR from items at the same time as I always used to.

Lucidity boots were the only support item (as rare as they are for most supports) that had CDR reduced. Mikhael's, Zeke's, Ardent, Locket; none of these lost any CDR.

Just don't rush the eye items. They're only a slot-efficiency upgrade for the sightstone. There is no reason at all to make them a priority buy. Get your CDR and core items first, then upgrade when inventory space is becoming a problem. I guess if you used lucidity boots a lot then you'll lose out on 5%, but that's really the only thing you stand to lose, and honestly you should probably be using mobis anyway (unless you're something like Sona with virtually no roaming pressure, and even then mobis are still a very competitive buy).

My favorite champ is Sona, and I play her very aggressively so I always buy spellthief on her. To be honest, I play a lot of supports and the only one I ever buy coin on is Thresh.

On Sona, I USED to buy FQC, Sighstone, Lucidity boots, and chalice in that order, which put me at 20% CDR. Nice, especially since Athene's will be my first item and will bring me to a very comfortable 30%. I finish off with a Lich Bane, because it's too good on Sona to not get.

For a tank, I itemize around my cdr but itemize defensively, picking up the 10% CDR on FotM, 20% on Frozen Heart (which makes up for the fact that I usually won't take the extra CDR in runes/masteries on a tank in favor of being tankier and I'll eschew lucidity boots for merc treads of mobos) and top it off with spirit visage for that last 10%. I buy locket instead when the enemy ap is heavy/fed.

I just played a game as Braum where I took the hybrid gold/ward item and mobos, and trying to figure out what the heck I was supposed to buy for CDR was nightmare inducing. The opposing team had absolutely no AP, so I didn't want to waste gold on a locket or visage but I was still missing 20% CDR after buying my heart.

Yeah, I've just figured out the new support items are garbage. I tried a few games today where I played Sona and bought the Eye, then rushed lucidity boots, purple book, and sheen (not even finishing them, just picking up the CDR components) and it felt absolutely awful. I felt so useless the entire game.

Like, Riot sits around wondering why no one wants to play support. Just look at the state of the game, and this is why. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE at least give us the 5% CDR on the boots back. Fix the Eye items later when you realize no one wants them because it's not worth missing the CDR.

Yea. I hate whoever took away the Tier 1 Offensive Master that gave me 5% CDR for 4 Points. I can't start with 10% Flat CDR from 6 Flat CDR Blues and 4 mastery points. Not only are all of my mastery pages outdated, my rune pages are screwed up too. Now I've got to figure out if 10% CDR from runes is worth sacrificing a quint and 3 blues for. One of the arguments for the new mastery trees was less "min/maxing micro-statistical decision making" yet that's what I find myself doing on as I review every rune page. This new patch sucks.
