Catchy title innit? ;D If you're going to implement a rotating game mode to compensate for a screw-up that large, make sure that it's a game mode that won't only piss players off to the point of uninstalling. I understand that competition is now the lifeblood of the game, but some of us (albeit naively) expect a little more out of you. For shaaaame.
And I feel like they didn't even compensate us for their fuck up. People took time off of work and all kinds of shit for this. A random game mode doesn't change the fact that they canceled it two hours before the event. Like this is fun (my first time playing this mode) but it doesn't change the time that they wasted. That's like telling your kid that you are going to a amusement park that you were planning for weeks only for you to cancel the trip two hours before you are about to leave then handing your kid a cookie and saying that makes up for it.
