A Diamond Jayce player builds Bruiser and....

He won the game going like 12/4.

The game went like 40 minutes or so, he had zero tanks on his team (his Rengar went full ad) and he still did a good amount of poke damage and survived long enough to kill the enemy carries.

His build was like item 3042 item 3071 item 3072 item 3143 item 3156 item 3111 . He had about 3k health and he was able to survive most all ins from the enemy team.

Ever since his release, I always built Jayce like a glass cannon whether it was top or mid because I was following the meta but this guy built Jayce more like a bruiser and still found similar success. So what do you think, if the situation calls for it in a ranked game, should you follow the typical meta build set by other players or deviate your builds a bit to help your team while still being useful to them?

People building him glass is the reason it feels like he falls off late game.

Jayce has a decent amount of utility in his spells, bruiser builds work just fine. That item 3035 you're missing out on isn't really all that great if you die after one spell rotation.

I would trade out BT for a LW. BT is too expensive for Jayce IMO.

Also, always build for the situation. Never lock yourself into a static build.

his build will probably never be like that for a while it was situational.

That's actually a fairly typical Jayce build. Usually I go something like item 3042 item 3071 item 3158 item 3142 And one defensive item. I don't always get bloodthirster but sometimes I do. The issue with glass cannon Jayce is yeah your Q/E hurts a lot but hammering into teamfights means you die. Having some sustain increases your engage potential .

If they stack armor, you have to get LW, there is no way to deal any dmg,

I admit i never played Jayce, but i never understood why people went full glass cannon on an immobile champion with mediocre AA range.

There's some Diamond Poppy main who does absolutely nothing but play her support bot-lane with Barrier Heal.

Honestly, if it works for you personally, it works. Try it out in regular draft.
