How to Ryze (aram)?

Since I only play aram nowadays I'm trying to get to be at least decent with all my champs but am struggling with this guy Ryze still to some degree.

My build is usually tear + boots-->roa--->seraphs + upgraded boots...and after that it depends (void/morrell/ludens/ various def items etc).

Tactics that seem to work for me: --try to attack from flanks so my q don't get blocked --e w q and run (or fake retreat, so their whole team don't jump me, and come back and add an e q to finish them) --e e q minion waves --occasionally try to land qwqeq if can surprise target from bush --hang out near marksmen if we have one and root any one that tries to jump on them / protect them

But problems I have are: --q gets blocked by tank --not much burst especially if combo interrupted --not much damage to tanks late game --hard to use tele effectively --strong early game but fall off late compared to other ap mages (ex annie)

Is Ryze just not that great at arams? I usually end up with more deaths than kills, and only maybe 2:1 kda. I know I can rr but ryze is kinda fun to play so I want to keep trying but last game teamates were whining that I was playing badly...item 3073

The best way to play Ryze in aram is to use your reroll token early. Dude is way too over nerfed

It's rather simple actually: Don't play Ryze. He has the third worst win rate in ARAM.

But here are some tips anyways:

  • Build:
  • Sorcerer's Shoes work best.
  • Abyssal Mask (Instead of RoA) and Banshee's Veil against AP comps.
  • Frozen Heart or Iceborn Gauntlet against AD comps.
  • Try to build Rabadon's asap.
  • Warmog's is a great pickup.
  • Playstyle:
  • Don't use your ult offensively unless it's to cut someone's retreat off.
  • Use your ult to escape when they can't cancel it. Keep up the damage while you're channeling.
  • Try to spread your [E] using the minion waves.
  • Focus on charging your runes for trades. This is why [Q][W][E][Q] works better, as [Q] will consume the one rune without you ever getting the shield.

yeah I give up on ryze. last game I played him I was like at 4/1/xx by level 6, finished at 5/11/xx kda and a loss. partially i think b/c of the lack of useful ult compared to other chars. but also other stuff--for example as other team builds movement speed it becomes much harder to combo, so damage becomes negligible. the volibear completely wrecked me from what i recall. game was over before i could finish the rabadons.
