Tahm Kench Assistance

So I reached Mastery 7 with Maokai (means nothing in terms of skill compared to the others who far exceed what I can do) and I want to start playing Tahm Kench. I've touched him and have an idea of his QWE, but I have no idea how to comprehend his R..... I don't understand it because I feel like it's "worthless" in a team fight because it seems to basically be just a travel option that takes 6 seconds max (is there a way to reduce that duration?) to reach an area..... Can someone help me out here please? Thank you

His R is basically a roaming/rotation/ganking tool. It's not designed to work in a team fight (unless in the niche situation that you could complete the channel without being interrupted to get the hell out of Dodge), it's designed to work outside of them.

For example if your mid laner gets a solo kill and is pushing the lane into a turret's that's already low, you could ult you and your ADC to mid to end the laning phase there and then.

Or say a teammate is out of position and is getting converged on by two enemy champs, you could ult yourself and another champion to their position to turn the tide in your favour or if an enemy is out of position, you could ult to cut them off and make a pick.

Hell, if you're playing top lane Tahm, you could just ult to get yourself back to lane without needing to use Teleport (you could even run Ignite instead of TP)

Against a good Tahm post level 6, you have to be wary every time he leaves vision.

Don`t worry too much about his R while you are learning to play him, safest and most reliable way to use it is to get yourself and possibly your ally to lane faster.

Once you get used to the long delay and even LONGER delay from the 4 seconds it takes for your teammate to click your R while you spam ping them, then you can start trying things out.

when i used tahm his ult was quite helpful for collapsing on enemies but try to go as far to the opposite side as possible so that way you and the ally don't get focus blasted as soon as you come up
