I completely agree. I think Riot said it themselves when they said they were going to focus on making League of Legends the NFL of the gaming community. They said, "we want after school programs, and a house where families are playing league" Or something along those lines, I don't exactly remember haha

I am one of the players who has played since pre-season 1. I gotta say at the end of every season it's almost always the same BS, another game comes out and everyone freaks or panics that League is declining. Remember H1Z1? GTA 5? now its freakin overwatch lmao. those fads will die and ppl will come back to league. As the main player base does get older however league has to cater to younger folks because those teens are now growing into men who would rather spend their time getting laid or working a job/going to school. I think its definitely not League's time yet but that there are certain things Riot can do to add interest to the game. I think rewards were a very key thing. Riot should add a replay system which they've promised forever. They should also be banning scripters/bots, which have added to league's negative experience.

OhWanderer6/24/2016, 11:20:01 PM9 votes

1 its been dying since the juggernaut update (maybe even the luddens update)

2 people didnt care and never have (obviously exclusions are possible, and this might not be the case for the 1st year), just look at the current player base of Overwatch . . . some shit is broken AF but u got tons of little shits denying it so the can win of stupid crap

3 league was taken by "kids" a couple of seasons ago tbh, at least one

and as an off topic point while were on the subject, i started disliking riot from the moment they stopped making creative characters like jinx riven and when they ruined ahri ( specifically that last one though, its about the same time frame though, happened all at once) jinx was actually the reason i started league

Yup, League is on it's way out. As many before them Riot is ignoring balance (gameplay) and focusing on the frivolous -- and profits. Sure League will be popular for years to come but it will quickly devolve into a niche game played by casuals (as in the "who cares" mentality) and out of nostalgia (friends, giggles, etc). It's a shame really I thought League had at least a good 2-3 years left before its decline but S6 has proven otherwise. Half of my friends stopped logging on regularly the other half "don't care" if they win/lose ranked or norms it doesn't really matter to a competitive player anymore be it a S5 or a D1. The satisfaction is almost long gone from a good match because they're basically a chimera and you know you'll be lucky to get another one in your next dozen matches.

The Whamboozler6/24/2016, 6:09:19 PM7 votes

Riot doesn't care about the vets anymore. They've written us off and are desperately chasing new players. All those long-time players who got league huge in it's heyday are depressed and a lot of them are quitting after being flipped the bird by Riot one too many times.

I left 'bout a month ago and it's rather nice. League was a rancid pile of depression and stress for me, and the new queue was the straw that broke the camel's back. Most of my friend's list left the game for the same reasons and it's just not fun playing anymore. RIP in peace, league.

DU Baymax6/24/2016, 8:06:46 AM7 votes

im sorry but that's just wrong, the pro scene is more popular than ever and the game in constantly getting more popular and getting more new players. Your evidence for the fact that its dying is that your friends from 4 or more years ago aren't playing the game anymore? I'm sorry but that's simply stupid, of course out of all of the people who have been playing the game for multiple years, some of them will lose interest. That's to be expected, if people weren't losing interest after years and years and thousands of hours of playing that would be absolutely extraordinary. People lose interest and new people take their place, that happens in all games. The game will probably die out eventually, but it is not dying out now and shows no signs of dying out in the near future. It is doing nothing besides getting more popular.

Change is slow. Look at World of Warcraft population charts. Been on a long ass decline for some time, but still has a lot of people. Hard to tell how accurate those things are, but taken at face value, change is slow.

I quit, "dynamic few" isn't for me. Hopefully improvements are made, game is fun, recent approaches to it aren't. Tencent just wants a cash cow, milk them skins.

Cogito Ergo Sol 6/24/2016, 7:11:44 PM7 votes

Honestly I agree with the post that League is slowly dying like WoW did (long ass decline) but I wouldn't say that is over. League Pro scene is overclassed by Dotas because here is the always mandatory thing with the same champions and people now are starting to get bored. Riot Games more like we care too much about money and we can't let it go that's why you'll never see a Sandbox mode, a decent replay system and SoloQ (Yes SoloQ doesn't matter for me since I'm just a silverino, but I'm addressing the general problem that DynamicQ provides in platinum and above). TL; DR If League follows this path will decline but it's definitely not over, but I agree with your statement: I love this game but I hate playing it.

I've only been playing for a little less than a year, and I've noticed the past few months the game just isn't as fun

GhastlyGhoulMan6/24/2016, 6:04:14 PM6 votes

I think the fact that threads like this actually get upvoted where a few seasons ago they'd be downvoted to the trash can... says a lot about how bad things have gotten. Not only with DQ, but game/champion balance as a whole. In fact, I'd say the one (maybe only) thing they've gotten absolutely right this season is rotating queue.

Spouner6/24/2016, 7:06:18 PM5 votes

I'm leaving LoL and this is why. I wasn't a hardcore player but I played on and off for years. It came to my attention a few weeks ago that in April and May someone was logging into my account and using it. Which caused my account to be banned I guess for a 3rd party program being used. I'm not sure what or when but Supposedly it happened. I'm not even sure how the account was taken. The password was the same and everything so there was no email saying that it had been changed to notify me. I live in Buffalo, NY i'm very white and speak only english. So i'm guessing by the fact that all my rune pages where changed to chinese writing that it was comprimised from someone in Asia. So i'm trying to get to the bottom of this and Riot decides to provide me with absolutely ZERO info to help my investigation. They just banned the account but won't provide small details like IP used. So who are they protecting? Through this whole discussion They keep saying they are protecting the innocent player. But by not providing me the IP used or banning the IP's used they are in reality protecting the Hackers and exploiters. So to the OP, I feel like you might be correct is saying the game is dying to me this is a perfect example. I know I'm right and I didn't use anything against TOS but to protect the hackers they ban me.

SPOUNER Tuesday at 00:10 My account was banned. The system says I was using a 3rd party program. I've NEVER used it. I really need to speak with someone on this. I've spent time and money on this game, and I'll be damned if it's wasted on something that never happneed. I sill say this. I stopped playing for a year and when i came back about 2 weeks ago i noticed for the past 2 months someone from china was in my account. I proceeded to change the password and just kept going. You can easily see i'm sure that the ips are not me and not near me. I live in buffalo, ny and i'm sure the usage in april and may was not from me. I have no idea how the person got my account info but they did and I did not approve it.

Avatar SPOUNER Tuesday at 00:10 i'm going to keep writing here until i get a response. I feel that if you ban players you should give them some way to actually talk to someone to find out why.

Avatar SWAINREN Tuesday at 12:03 Hello Spouner,

Your account has been permanently suspended following the use of scripts, hacks, exploits or unauthorized third-party programs in League of Legends. Accounts that are caught using hacks to gain an unfair competitive advantage are subject to permanent suspension. We work hard to preserve a fair and competitive environment in League of Legends. Regardless of intent, use of unauthorized third-party programs is explicitly against the Terms of Use, which can be found here:

NA: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/legal/termsofuse

Keep in mind that account sharing of any kind is also against the Terms of Use. You are responsible for all activity on your account, so be sure to keep your account information to yourself.

We won't be able to go into the specifics of an account's exploit abuse, as divulging this information could compromise future investigations. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Avatar SPOUNER Tuesday at 12:34 When was this that happened? I've never used anything at all. I literally don't even have a program on my computer that is not an official product of riot games Microsoft or blizzard. You must tell me when this supposedly occurred so I can try and figure out what is going on.

Avatar SPOUNER Tuesday at 14:55 I read through the terms of service and i'm assuming the account was banned from activity from april and may when someone hacked my account and was using it without my knowledge. I did not notify you right away because I guess I never assumed someone would be using a 3rd party program at all. I don't play like that and so it never even crossed my mind. I looked at all the info and I didn't see many reports against my account so I assumed the person wasn't doing anything but playing my aco%%%%. I've been a member for many years and you can look at all my history and see that i'm not a problem player. I'm good for the community in general, I play my games the best I can. I do see that a big part of banning accounts is doing damage to the community and being fair. Well, i'm by no means a very good player and I hardly win many matches to be honest. I don't dominate in any games. I'm just someone that likes to play and enjoys it. I really hope that looking at all my history that you would see that i'm not bad for the LoL community but an asset and hope that this suspension is lifted.

Avatar SPOUNER Tuesday at 14:56 I'm sure you can see that any improper use during gameplay was not done by my ip address but done no where near me and not by me at all. I had no idea someone had comprimised my account. they literally used the exact same password that I had which makes this confusing to me. I never got an email warning that a comprimise may of happened at all which i figured with the IP diffrernces that would happen.

Avatar BROKEN BLADE Yesterday at 18:38 Hello Spouner,

I'm Broken Blade and I will be assisting you.

I have taken another look into your account just to make sure everything's correct for you, and it does seem there were exploits being used by this account with no signs of ever being compromised. However if an account is ever compromised, as the account creator you are ultimately responsible for all behavior on your account as well as maintaining its security and the security of its login information. While we can help players recover their accounts if they are compromised, we can't ignore any negative activity that occurred on their account while it was shared or compromised.

We took action to protect the fairness and integrity of the Fields of Justice. We stand firm on our decision to suspend this account and we will not be lifting it.

Avatar SPOUNER Yesterday at 19:10 Ok, that really sucks, so in fairness to me can you tell me when this exploit was used? I Dis not have control of my account from at minimum from April 2016 and may 2016. Can you provide me with the ip addresses used during this time frame as well. Because even though you say no compromise was evident I know for a fact it was because I've never in my life played certain characters which we're being played in April and may. So since you say that my account wasn't compromised then provide me the ips used to log in. I don't use any3rd party programs for anything so I know that it's not me. You can even look at my chat history and notice that around June 10th when I found out about the compromise, I changed passwords as well as informed the few friends the person made that I am not the person that he was playing with and that the person stole my account. So again since I just spent money on this account and I did not do anything wrong myself please provide the ips that's the least you can do since you can't seem go realize that my account was compromised. Thank you. And just in case you are going to say that you can't provide the ip addresses that is a conflict of what you are trying to say about me being the user who broke the terms. If you blame me then you should have no problems giving the ips. Thanks

Avatar BROKEN BLADE Today at 13:33 I understand your frustration towards this matter, but due to there being a history of players wanting to know how to avoid being caught in the future we do not disclose information in regards to how we have confirmed this. You may not have this intention, but we have a firm stance on this matter.

The suspension on this account will not be lifted. I understand it's hard to lose something that you invested time and money into, but the use of exploits were found in multiple games which provided the players in those matches with a negative experience that we are unable to reverse. We took action to protect the fairness and integrity of the Fields of Justice, and we stand firm on our decision to suspend this account.

We won't be able to help you any further regarding this account, but if you have any other questions or concerns about anything else League related please let me know. If you do not, I will have to consider this matter resolved and close the ticket.

Avatar SPOUNER Today at 14:47 I"m not asking for the exploit, i'm asking for the IP's used while running the exploit. If you are going to ban the account the least you can do is provide me the IP addresses. How is that an unreasonable request? So, I'm asking again. please provide me the IP addresses used to log into the account the past few months. This is no way would give me an idea of why you actually banned my account, but just provide me the area that my account was logged in from. Thanks

Avatar SPOUNER Today at 14:52 I don't see why listing the IP's is such a hard thing to do. You Say "I" or someone "I" let use the account used a hack then I need to know who, at this point I know I don't use any 3rd party programs So that's not my concern here. I want to know where the account was logged in from so I know "who" broke the terms of service. Surely you can see that you are trying to avoid me knowing what caused the breach of service. But nothing in your terms of service or responses says that I can't know who did the breach. So please provide the IP's so i can conduct my own investigation.

Yeah, it's like 70% of unbalance and 30% of balance on every single game/match. And it really made me mad when the team is unbalance. Really hope the Riot can fix the server into a balance game with 50-50 of luck and bad luck, not bad luck in every single game. [zombie-brand-clap]

yeah between Overwatch coming out and DayZ .60 patch, I haven't logged into LoL in some time. They don't want to listen to their player base and fix solo queue, that's ok, but don't expect players to stay.

UpDownLeftRightAB6/24/2016, 7:22:37 PM4 votes

My friends list has been dying over the years. Started with about 50 online at pretty much anytime. Now It's at 3 if I count the mobile app thing and the people who are always afk... Even when it was at around 10 people, I couldn't play DQ with my friends because of the Tier restriction, removal of Ranked 5's kinda killed the occasional fun.

Nimmer6/25/2016, 4:49:55 AM4 votes

RIOT's refusal to revert unpopular changes, and just plain bullshitting, is so annoying. Like the whole dynamic queue thing is the perfect example. No one likes it, it has been proven to be statistically terrible, and yet they still try to force it down our throats/act like people actually like it. It's insanity. Also, I can queue up for an OW match and it maybe 2% of the time it takes to get into a league match.

Personally i don't like all these reworks. I really can't get used to it. Gangplank rework, poppy rework, fiora rework... i have to learn all these matchups again because i have no idea how to play against them and what are their abilites.

Terchio6/24/2016, 3:19:39 PM3 votes

Friends list dropping is natural. I've had a huge friends list (about 100) build from about beta to late season 1-2, at which point I basically quit adding friends. In general, they dropped like flies for a good while before it actually kinda stagnated at 2-5 friends on at a time. I can't even say that it has dropped since the end of season 4, when the decline started.

And every game loses steam eventually. I wish they could've done a million moves, but all in all, I've had these nitpicks well before the crapfest that is Season 6. The only true development in my eyes is that the pessimism has now overtaken the optimism, and Season 6 has become synonymous with failure. However, I'd argue it's no more wrecked than previous seasons were, maybe just poorly managed, but that's always been a minus on Riot, with few minor exceptions.

Let's ignore massive balance issues that have come up the last couple of years with league-of-dashes and this season everything possible having cool down reduction. Let's forget the whole "spend 3 seasons making the game less snowbally" and then making everything about this game from minions to towers snowbally.

Ignore all of that making competitive insanely boring, because no one wants to give anyone an edge in the matches, and our own general gameplay experience being garbage.

The real issue here is the more players like me, who had before this season played since before ranked, quit. The more solo queue players that leave, the more players that get stuck playing premades and the more frustrating it is for them. What do you when you're frustrated? You quit.

This just goes on and on and on and the game dies more and more every day. Riot should've gotten on this right away, not waited like they are. Unbelievably arrogant, and it will probably cost them a lot long term, I know that even if solo queue came back today I wouldn't play; the other issues still exist. I'm too tired of any of those things existing to be bothered to come back.

The nature of capitalism is coming through.

When this game was a tyrant and strong was when the balance team did an alright job of keeping things in line. There would usually be a favorite champ of the month, but now we have things like "tanks are OP this patch" or "assassins deal too much damage when building full tank" where an entire group is out of control. Dynamic queue has been needing constant changes and tweaks to keep it from being horrible, with the only benefit being trios and quads of friends in ranked. Riot used to be much more accommodating with so many of their ideals, but now things need to be streamlined on a global scale so things like splashes are the same across all servers even if the previous ones were better.

People are getting sick of Riot's mentality change over the years and people haven't done much because there haven't been any spectacular multiplayer games to compete for the same space. No competition means you can do whatever you want and people will just have to deal with it. Now that Overwatch is pulling people into a casual shooter spectacle, Hearthstone is pulling people into a low-stress card game, and we're even getting a glimpse of the next console generation where the consoles may actually be different, Riot's either going to keep trying to tell people "our game is fun! Look at the constant changes we're making. Things never get infuriating or repetitive here" or they can actually make their game create more fun than frustration.

It really is a shame though. With things like the game mode rotation, hextech crafting, champion mastery, personalized sales, impactful masteries, client changes, an additional tier between Diamond and Challenger for people to stand out in, and our skins not being simple recolors unless you want to buy a chroma pack for cheap, almost everything about this game is looking great except for the actual game part of it.

Sorry but coming from an account that was banned MANY MANY years ago now. I can honestly say this was deserving. The game deserves to die. It's nothing but a atmosphere of childish attacking trolls and when you go to defend yourself or make a humorous joke to lessen a blow you get punished as well. I spent hundreds upon hundreds on this game, and I told myself I won't create a new account to build, and I won't place another dollar into this community.

The game is in itself a trap, you play you get banned, and if you where stupid enough to pay money. Well sucks to be you. People are moving onto a more mature atmosphere that understands the internet is a living breathing thing that you don't dictate like childish liberals. Hence... better games are deserving of the community numbers.

Noblewind6/24/2016, 6:23:18 PM2 votes

True, the game does appear to be dying with respect to those who played in the first few seasons. However this on its own doesn't necessarily mean the game as a whole is dying. Total games this season worldwide are on pace to be the highest ever. The new environment of the game, community, pro/stream scene will always be changing, that doesn't mean "the end of the old-guard" = the end

Atronthor6/24/2016, 8:34:15 PM1 votes

In my eyes League of Legends has two big problems. Cheaters and Hacks as well as manipulated games by saboteurs. There are people who wanna make money with this game. For example they play accounts to higher divisions. The only way to gurantee this is to manipulate the games. One way is to cheat and to hack another way is to put saboteurs in the opponent teams.

Against these things Riot does absolutely nothing it seems. You can not call a thing sport if only chosen people can become professional players. Sports means that the really best players of this sport are on the top. Cheaters, Hackers and Saboteurs are not top. They manipulate the game. And the kiddies who may play professional players in these "championships" are not the best players also.

Lets take a look. How much has LoL to do with skill? Well at first we have some champions who has a much better mobility or they have a much higher damage or they have much cc or they have all these things together and much more. That means obviously there are Champions who can things other Champions cant do. Is this fair? Well the problem is LoL is no sport it is a videogame. And the company Riot wanna make money so they invent one Champion after the other instead of make a perfect balance. But to be honest I think the balance is not that bad at all. Although there are better Champions of course.

Lets say both teams has equal skills the team with the better Champions should win. Then we have the knowledge skill. That means the player has to know what items he should buy in certain situations. He should use the right runes and masteries. And of course he should know all Champions their abilities their strengths and their weaknesses. So actually he should have all Champions. This is no matter of skill but a matter of money.

Then we have the mechanical aspect of the game. How to control your champions with the mouse and keyboard.

A very big factor is how good your team plays together. So actually LoL has much in common with synchronized swimming. Because all of a team must time their actions.

And the last factor is the decision making. If somebody is intelligent he will make better decisions. So intelligence is a factor in this game too.

In random matches where somebody plays solo or not in a full team. Of course the team play cant be that good. And of course their is no leader who can make the right decisions and all do it then. Nevertheless one can make the right decisions for himself.

All in all in my eyes LoL is not a Sport but a game which could make fun if there would be no cheaters and no saboteurs in sometimes almost every game. May be LoL could become kinda a competitive game if there would not cheaters no hackers and so on and the best players could play the game and not the childs of the friends of the CEO or something like that.

I have nothing against the so called Dynamic Queue I have something against cheaters and trolls.

the way i see riots actions is they are making big changes to move the community as a whole in a direction they feel will be better in the long run, and thats important, they are willing to take the hit now for a "brighter tomorrow". i find it admirable of a company to take such a risk in this day and age, im not sure it will work out but i hope it does.
