How many champions do you have to own in order to unlock ranked mode?
I'm relatively new to this game as I am lvl 28 now. I am interested in playing ranked once i hit level 30 but i heard that you need to own a certain number of champions.

HalcyonDweller3 votesAccording to LolWiki you are required to have 20 champions. It was increased from 15. This is because of the increase in bans when the 10 ban system was put into effect.

The Sword Saint1 votesYou need to have enough champions that you'd still have one to play even if all of the ones you owned were already picked or banned and you were the very last one to pick (free week champs can't be played in ranked).
So 10 bans plus 9 players picking before you means you need 20 champions to guarantee you'll always have at least one left over.
