"We're playing at worlds so lets play the scared, afk farm game"

OneBadAwesomeCha··3 votes·511 views

This has been the same TSM plan since season 2. Other veteran teams already know how to play against this team. Thats how bad they are in an international setting where the games matter. How can you expect more out of them when they continue to make the same mistakes? I've watched these guys play since season 1. Think about that. I used to be a hardcore TSM fan back in season 2 but year after year of disappointment at worlds makes me wonder why this team even bothers to practice for this event. Watching their games is like watching a loss in slow motion.

Crumbs said it best...you arent going to ever beat korea playing the meta they invented. Until NA and EU grow some balls like gigabyte marines and just play how they feel they have the best chance....they will continue to get stomped.

They NEED to grow balls. Anyone watching their games can painstakingly see it. Its clearly a confidence issue. If we think about mechanics, the difference between all the players is small. Their game vs. FW was FW having the lead majority of the game then throwing it.

Maybe they don't. Idk.

Watching their games is like watching a loss in slow motion.

They didn't lose...this is probably why you should wait til the end of the game to put out your grievances.

?? Have you seen their past games? Do you not understand how they play? This game was more about FW throwing their lead (and Varus' build hurting them in the late game). Hauntzer being the only player to have the balls make a play in the mid game really made the difference this game. Otherwise, TSM would've played scared the entire game and lost.

You think I'm not that observant? And playing to the late game is playing scared huh? Sometimes that's not the case at all. EDG was playing scared with their lead vs AHQ! Difference with FW is that they couldn't slip their way through the cracks and that gave TSM the opening back into the game. You can plug and play that to any game you want where the fell from behind team builds a mounted defense only to swing it back in the end.

I really don't think you were paying attention to how they played in the early. Sven made aggressive jungle invades. No pressure was allocated for TSM (no vision control for that matter).
Think about how much TSM lost early game. They were playing scared. Watch a better team destroy TSM for their awful early game.

GeminiRune1 votes

My thing is that the early game was implied as a slow bleeding loss, even if they won in the end. While I did have my frustrations with Sven on the amount of aggression he held, I wouldn't use scared as the term to use more than I would reckless, disrespectful, or careless. Those buzz words sound more like degrees of punishment against stronger and more aware opponents.

If any of Sven's engages were more meticulously played out, there wouldn't need to be as much of a "play to scaling" course of action than what was intended.

No, but they definitely should have lost. You honestly think SKT or Long Zhu would have allowed TSM to have 3 open inhibs at 45 minutes?

OneBadAwesomeCha1 votes

Exactly. FW made pretty obvious mistakes and threw their lead which allowed TSM to comeback (53 MINUTE GAME, was not even a clean win for TSM). I'd love to see how TSM plays against a better team and whether they can expect to stall the game out that long.

Only it wasn't a Korean team so that shouldn't matter. Why does it ALWAYS need to be TSM vs Korean team even when it's not a Korean team they're facing? The game went just as back and forth as EDG vs AHQ yesterday, only with FW surmounting a larger lead. Rather than downplaying TSM and wringing out the disputes mid game as if a win is a loss nonetheless, praise something about the outcome of the game!

Actually, it not being a Korean team makes all the difference. Even Crumbz said it, you can not, under any circumstances, expect to win against a Korean team with that kind of performance.

They had a 5.5k gold deficit during mid game. Sure, it's not disastrously behind, but since Flash Wolves is not Korean, they couldn't turn that gold lead into a 10k gold lead.

The one thing I will praise is Hauntzer's performance, and that the game was entertaining to watch. But if I was an analyst for TSM, I'd be criticizing nearly every point of that game.

I guess I can relate to that. My issue with the OP was relatively similar to how most TSM fans wound enact in not letting the game play out before hearts get torn. I took the magnifying glass under FW more with the game as they had and lost the control later on. The title expresses one thing while the description shows disbelief after the shaky early game. In the end, they won. It's also only the first game for them.

There are definitely pros and cons to the game on both sides (I'm staring at Svenskeren). But eluding that to "they're screwed against Koreans" while you may not have quoted that, it certainly implied it where I felt it kind of doesn't need to be.

Not just the top 2 teams, any others that can match individual skills will be a big problem. I was expecting better considering how third seed C9 and IMT played yesterday

I don't think that was their mentality going into the game, it's just they got behind largely due to their jungler, and put them in a position where they had to wait for items to fight. DLift said it during the interview, they had to try their best to stall until he and bjerg got items. It's also worth mentioning that TSM has the highest winrate among all the groups in terms of wins when in a 4k plus deficit. They are just good at playing from behind, which is an even better skill than knowing how to play when ahead.

OneBadAwesomeCha2 votes

They ALWAYS want to play the afk farm game until their carries get farm (they expect the enemy team to just play their game and allow them to safely farm ). And yes, their jungler was responsible for majority of their deficit early game. Bot lane had 0 pressure and extremely poor vision control. Sven kept trying to make aggressive invades and they failed. This strategy is NOT a good one against the better teams if its their GO-TO strat every time. Its the same thing that they try to pull off every year. I really wish they would do better prep towards boosting and re-inforcing the confidence of the players (could clearly see their lack of confidence in the early game) AND adopting more 3-dimension comps so the entire team doesn't get screwed if one player has an off-game (harder to execute with 5 bans from the enemy).

DLift in interview literally said, we want to play safe this year.

They do play a bit passive but when you are a team for 7 years never really accomplishing much, why would you rely on first 20 or so mins, if you could just wait till 40-50 mins with the long a$$ deathtimers.
