Karma Update Patch 5.10

Alright, so as a Karma main I was pretty upset about the changes to her kit. I think the removal of extra damage on her RW and RE limit her gameplay and make her weaker in general. Just wanted to get some other people's opinions.

Also, I think it limits her to more of a support role. What do you think?

your main reason for using re and rw was damage? no you used rq if you want damage. you used rw and re for the utility and they buffed the utility part, she has a lot more and interesting gameplay options now

If you're in a tight situation, RW was a great tool to change the fight to your advantage. Now that neither of those have the extra damage, in a single lame it seems like a waste of an R to use them. In a team for they're probably still good, but not as good as they were. I did like the general buff to her W though.

i played ap karma mid a lot for a little while, and i actually like the changes a lot (almost called them a buff oops). but honestly, it's pretty much a buff. nobody cares about the damage from RW or RE. your q is on practically no cooldown lategame, so the mantra buffs reward you for spamming (and hitting) q with wayyyy more mantra'd abilities in the late game, which karma honestly really needed to scale better. before the mantra buffs, karma had an incredibly strong teamfighting presence in the mid-game, but she fell off into a support-carry role in late-game fights. the mantra buffs let her either retain her mid-game hard carry teamfighting presence by giving you more RQ's than ever, or it lets you support your team really fuckin hard by spamming RE.

like Ekko Or Feed said, it opens up options for you as a karma player. and they're really good options, and you can make choices more often for even more tactical flexibility. RQ does broken amounts of AoE damage; if you want to spam that late game, you can now. RW makes insanely good single-target peel and kite possible, as well as enables karma to do some respectable 1v1 dueling. RE is just a flat out broken teamfighting tool; you don't use it when you're in the middle of the enemy team, you use it when you're in the middle of YOUR team so you get a free Locket + Talisman. the way they changed RE's ally shield value means it scales better into late game, too.

tldr the karma changes give her massive late-game presence without taking much away from any of her other phases or capabilities. solid buff all around.

The RE is just better as far as I'm concerned. When I use RE, I want to save lives with big shields. I don't want mediocre shields that also have mediocre damage. If I want damage, I'll use RQ. When I use RE, it's because I want someone (or multiple someones) to stay alive, and I value the buff on that way, way more than I value the damage lost. The CDR I lose on the RE team-wide hit is made up for by the buff to the passive, so it's a net gain.

The RW is proabbaly about the same power-wise, but I like it more. I can still bait people into overextending with the heal, and then they get rooted for longer so my teammates and I can punish them. Even if I'm alone, it gives me more time to lay damage into them. It's maybe a bit weaker for solo laning, but I'm still just as comfortable running her mid or top as I was, and I think it's just preferable later game. Having more damage on the base ability is great too, because it means an RQ + W burst can take people out even easier.

I love them.. Karma has always been the most useless champion in my eyes and these changes keep my feelings true.

Let's be real - even though old RW came close to RQ damage, no one ever used it. RQ is just far better at being reliable.

She plays pretty much the same. A bit more team-wide utility at the expense of some situational damage. Those Mantra buffs were extremely sexy.

I actually used RW all the time to change the tides of a fight. If they have you low this would bring you up on health and bring them down to a killable health. Now I feel like using R on anything other than Q is a waste of potential damage.
