If you win one game after being promoted, you are able to be demoted. If you have not won a game yet, you can not be demoted until winning a game.

he already won and lost 4 times and was still silver 2 he wins games as yasuo 4/15 and is silver 2 and im fucking getting demoted lol garbage fucking game... might be silver 5 tonight the way my teams beeen feeding wow lol pretty sure its gona happen that suck oh well not really better then most ppl gold just paired with complete utter trash 100% of the time ive won and lost like back to back more afks then games playbale i havent climbed or fallen i get demoted at 0 lp u stay at 0 lp for like 5 games of course ur not gonna fall every time u bail in my promos i fall so hard sry lol nah its cool i always get you to your promos then gotta get off just surprised how u win games 4/15 and i cant get a carry lol yeahhhh its not my fault completely

If they were just recently promoted, then they have to play 3/10 games before they can be demoted depending on if it's a division/tier.

Beyond that, demotions are based on your mmr. If you have an mmr that is well above your rank, then it can sometimes be possible to lose dozens of games at 0LP with a demotion even without shielding. On the other hand if your mmr is below that of your rank, it can be possible to be demoted even with a single game loss at 0lp (assuming they don't have their just-promoted shielding still).

It's not 3/10 free loses at 0LP, it's 3/10 games after promotion. If you experienced otherwise then you should report the bug, but I suspect you were just misunderstanding how shielding works.

So if you get promoted to say, silver 4, you'd have 3 games protection. You might win one, get say +18 LP for it, then lose one and get -17 LP, then lose another and get -1LP bringing you to 0LP, and then losing again could get you demoted, despite it being your first and only loss at 0lp.

I lost like 8 games at plat elo with 0lp and didn't get demoted :V I think you only get demoted if your MMR doesn't match the elo you're in like if you're in gold and have bronze elo, you'll get demoted in two losses in a row.
