@Riot: What if you implemented a "sit-out feature" for games that turn into a 4v5?

Let's say a player disconnects during a game. The game is now a 4v5. What if the team with five people, at that moment, were prompted to vote on one of them sitting out?? Each player on the team with five people could vote on which player they think should sit out until the disconnected person returns. When the allied teammate is sitting out, he'd be switched to a real-time spectator mode where he could only spectate his team. Once the disconnected player returns, the allied teammate is immediately loaded back in the game.

Allowing the team with five people to decide which one of them should sit out would still allow them to have a slight advantage because they could choose the weakest player on their team to sit out. This would also level the playing field for the team with four people because they wouldn't have that one extra champion roaming around the map or split pushing.

I know it's not a perfect idea, but I like the idea of giving a little mercy to the enemy team with four people without disbanding or throwing the game.

I thought of this when I thought of playing pickup basketball with some friends. If one of your friends got injured, then normally (if you're friends aren't egotistical dykes) someone on the other team would sit out to keep an even match. Why can't we do something similar on here?

But I liked the mercy vote thing.. Where the remaining members could vote on a mercy pass to end the game. The 5 man team would still technically win, but the 4 man tema wouldnt technically lose.

I remember that. The only counterargument I have against that is what if the game was close? You wouldn't want a mercy vote. If the game was close with a "sit-out feature", then the disadvantaged team would be able to still be in the game. The advantaged team wouldn't feel completely jipped because they got to choose which one of them misses some of the action.

IMO It would be up to the disadvantaged team to decide the mercy vote. Back then I remember a lot of enemy teams refusing to mercy an AFK lol.

That'd give the disadvantaged team too much power. They already have a surrender vote for the losing team. There's no need to have a mercy vote as well, because it'd be abused. People would have their duo queue buddy quit just to have the loss nullified. If you gave the mercy vote to the advantaged team AFTER a surrender vote has passed through the disadvantaged team, then maybe you can justify your argument.

Other than that, I completely disagree with any form of the mercy vote.

If your duo queue wanted to risk ban for LeaverBuster then it'd be a great Idea. Or did you forget that ;D Tighten leaver buster security and allow for mercy is what I say :p

Both teams have to vote, and majority on both have to say yes. (i.e. 3/4 on the Red votes yes, and 4/5 on the Purple vote Yes, it'd be mercy, but say that 1/4 on Red voted yes, and 5/5 on the blue voted Yes, the Red team voted no, so it would not give mercy.)
