So, is Riot going to actually address the support gold gen gap?
Like, seriously, I know they nerfed Ancient Coin but I honestly think they nerfed the wrong thing. Sure, maybe the mana gain on the coins was a bit out of line but I think the biggest issue on it right now is the gold gen, it's just so high.
I'm a Sona main, she's all I play in the support role, and I almost feel like I'm forced to play coin instead of Spellthiefs because I feel like I'm just gimping myself and my team, especially when the enemy support takes coin. And they almost ALWAYS have coin anymore, even the folks who normally would take Relic like Blitz or Taric.
The actual lane experience of using coin just doesn't feel fun, not compared to Spellthiefs, and I feel so much weaker than normal when I take Coin. I don't know how the Relic Shielders are doing, but Spellthiefs just feels completely pointless with coin being this strong. Plus the gold gen on coin allows me to buy Censer even earlier than normal (of course I buy it, playing Sona) which only further exacerbates Censer's problems.
I don't claim to know stuff about actual balancing or anything, but all I know is that when enemy Alistars and Blitzcranks and Tarics or even Sonas, one of the easiest champions to stack Spellthiefs on, are all basically railroaded into taking coin just to keep up, something feels wrong.
as an offensive option when, factoring in the cost of sightstone,
gets you more AP. (And overall stats) Put a sightstone next to Frost Queen's and a Blasting Wand next to Eye of the Watcher's and it becomes self-evident.
?
with
for that juicy 20% cdr, and with the other you go for the eye for the extra slot.
