Recently many champions have been doing far better than others from being tanky with damage or just having a better kit than them such as Illaoi or Darius. I've recently played a game with aatrox who is one of my favorite champions and he takes far too long to get started compared to other late game champions. If its possible i would like to hear some feedback from the community and riot members. Thanks

I've played him a few times since the season launched. I found success in lane matchups when I utilized Grasp of The Undying and Offense w/ the Lifesteal talent. You can start Doran's Blade and it's virtually impossible to outsustain or bully him out of lane. If you trade for an extended amount of time, you crawl ahead.
Aatrox has an odd place in League at this moment, imo. He's a unique top laner with a gap closer, a slow, and toggling between HP & Damage is awesome. I'd focus on keeping Aatrox's HP as high as possible at all times so that you can spend more time toggled into damage than into gaining HP to maximize damage output. That being said you could make your runes and masteries focus on damage but what I think will make the most of Aatrox is the life steal. His ability to almost infinitely sustain will allow for you to stay in lane for longer amounts of time and be able to beat on minions and jungle creatures after a fight instead of recalling. Those are my thoughts on Aatrox. Be advised, skilled players will kite a bad Aatrox that cannot close the gap or know when it is time to give up the chase.
