Difficulty bars

The difficulty bars listed in the client don't seem to match up with the actual difficulty of champions. This doesn't really affect gameplay directly, but it's kind of weird that someone like Annie is listed as twice as difficult as Fiora (I don't think her difficulty bar was changed after the rework, but again, Annie scores a difficulty of 6). I'm not saying that Annie is a completely braindead champion, but she does take a lot less mechanical skill and decision making than what her score would imply.

In addition, champs like Garen are listed as more difficult than Shen. Shen is not a difficult champion by any means, but he does rely heavily on landing a skillshot (granted it's reasonably fast and has an okay hitbox), as well as having good map awareness for his ultimate. Garen, on the other hand, has very little variation in his combo, is quite forgiving of mistakes and does not require as much decision-making.

Ofc this isn't a huge priority or anything but I just thought it would be nicer if the bars were changed to be a little more accurate. I used to rely on them a lot when I was still learning to try and figure which champs would be easier to pick up.

From what I've heard, they are based on how often a new player wins with them their first time.

I just thought it would be better for them to factor skill cap in as well.

I remember when I first started, GP was listed as support in his character BIO screen. So I saved up for him and tried to play support. After a dozen or so reports submitted in my name, I decided he wasn't a support.

Half his kit was of a supporting nature. That's not the same as bot lane (though there are some that mained bot lane support GP because they knew what to do). I don't think the new one can be considered support, though. Should probably be changed now lol.

True but at the time, I thought support meant he was played bot support. He is no longer listed as support but my point was that you shouldn't take the character BIO screen as 100% fact.

I am not even sure how one would measure difficulty of champion. I mean you can look at it several ways such as how many skill shots, skill cap, ect. A lot of this can be subjective too!

Ah they did change it? I hadn't checked.

I was actually having some fun as gp support before the rework. Building iceborn, black cleaver and Locket.

there is more to champion difficulty than mechanical demanding kits.

garens difficulty bar was initially much lower. but it got raised over time, because in the league of mobility he actually became more difficult to play. what his kit lacked in mechanical difficulty, was compensated by the difficulty in positioning and strategical choices you have to make with him.

you dont get multiple get out of jail free cards like lee sin or can dash over walls like even shen. if youre out of position in the wrong situation it means youre usually fucked.

meanwhile when lee makes a mistake he kicks you in the face 2 screens away and w's over a wall to safety.

he also has it much harder to get into a fight than a lot of champions, while at the same time he is only effective in melee range of someone. making again almost perfect positioning and timing when to engage on an opponent in a teamfight mandatory.
