Proto-belt Clunky?

I main Diana and sometimes play Leblanc but I think the protobelt builds are trash and clunky. It doesn't even deal enough damage and the ap it gives is horrible in my opinion. Why would I go for that when I can just get a Spellbinder's for only 450 gold more? 10% movement speed enhance. 120 AP. The active can help a lot when trying to chase or run. Protobelt's damage is non-existent and the dash is meaningless. It is useless in late game. I see some players go for this but I dont know why. Is it purely meant for sustain in lane against harder matchups? Or what?

You often just use the protobelt to quickly clear a wave or just for ambient damage in an all in.

It's also because the revolver is such a good early game item, essentially a mini Lich bane, and the health you get from the protobelt/ kindlegem means you're much harder to burst down, and the cdr is nice. So your trades are better and you are less likely to get all inned in lane, and you can easily clear waves in the mid game when you've completed the item.

Spellbinder's is an awkward item because:

1: It gives no mana, but needs mana to stack. 2: You want to use it on a burst combo, but those combos often rely on abilities with high cd's, meaning the active synergises with champions that can't really stack it.

It also leaves you vulnerable to being bursted down, you become a glass cannon that runs out of mana really fast, and because it's such an awkward item it's just through and through garbage.

Protobelt was intended for champion with no mobility to have a chance to have some mobility, but it's primarily used on champions who already have mobility and this just enhances it even more (Ekko and Fizz). It's a very niche item, and only a few champions can utilize it, it's more for allowing people to get into fights easily and do a bit of aoe damage at the same time, it's also used a bit for waveclear.
