Quitting League & My Reasons
I'm uninstalling League as we speak and I can't say my short time playing it wasn't entirely unpleasant. I haven't been here nearly as long as any of you and that probably greatly impacts my lack of patience for certain things in it.
My first reason and primary reason above all is the community. People will leave the game if one thing goes wrong and if people get angry at one another they throw the entire game. People assume that you'll do everything they tell you to and act like the world is against them when you don't throw your life away so they can get kills and say 'they carried'. Solo Queuing is painful because my side is almost always bad, like really bad. I've had a lot of bad games and some even lost solely because of my performance, however I've learned to avoid most preventable deaths and rarely feed unless I'm massively unlucky. Most players in my elo don't take safety suggestions at the least and don't play by the numbers of their situation. I've gotten used to playing with my friends who've played this game for years and taught me how to play. We make our calls, we play as a team and the rest is left to if we play well. I like feeling like I had a bit of cooperation and spent this nearly hour long game having fun despite a loss or a win. Unfortunately I can't get my friends to play much because they've gotten tired of League too, so I never have a team.
Playing without pals in this game at a very low elo is very hard and very frustrating.
My second reason is unhealthy kits and blatant favoritism. Champions like
will never be balanced out because they're staples of the game. They must always be in power or else they lose the spotlight that Riot intends for them to have. Maybe it's a tradition thing? I wouldn't know. Then they make characters like
who feel so freelo that I actually feel ashamed to play them or with them. She's more oppressive than
and that's making quite a statement. Other characters I experience frustration with are
and
because it doesn't matter what you do with them. If you're good at these characters then you can build them how you please for any situation. Sure they can be killed and stopped but it's just laborious and boring to deal with considering how much of a nightmare both can be. Some kits just don't fit for what Riot wants to turn the game into now that there's so many kits from recent times clashing with older times.
My third reason is stealth mechanics are extremely poor in this game. Using an inventory slot or changing my standard ward are just plain bad solutions. If I had an item in my inventory that reveals people I'd at least like a benefit instead of sacrificing a slot or just switching out my tools entirely. Having to drop a ward or tap my ward variant feels clunky, especially against Evelynn and Super Kitty. Infinite bush hopping is also another thing, who thought that was a good idea..?
My fourth reason is Riot. Riot doesn't seem to respond well to it's more vocal non-pro playerbase. They take a lot of time to address anything and sometimes don't address it at all. I wasn't in favor or against the presence of SoloQ but lying and forcing this into a purely teamQ mentality wasn't nice or fair to their players. Riot also tends to have double standards and I don't give a shit if TenCent is the majority shareholder- but some in game decisions are just plain stupid and childish.
Karthus can't be a skeleton because my asian feels. Oh no a game has a few smokers and one drinker, but god forbid we can leave in BLOOD and 70% NUDE WOMEN. I'm not against any of the above, but it feels VERY odd that I can see the thighs, stomachs, tits and asses of your characters but you gotta knick the smokes from your character? Where the hell is your artistic integrity? You removed blood from splash arts too! What's next, you're going to make Darius knock monkey out of the enemy instead of blood because call of dooty?
I will say right now that the game has a lot of cool characters, cool mechanics and sweet items to mix and match for different situations. However the playerbase feels so rotten to the core and the only pleasant people I know are those who go plat and above. They have friends who play with them and they're really good and had yeeears to enjoy the game to get to this point.
I guess I just feel like I missed out on the developing stages that would make me a good player and not so repulsed by the community. I don't like being punished for nearly an hour's worth of time for people squabbling or people feeding/asking. It's really hard to learn from just videos when people don't have the time or will to play with you because there's so many tiny convoluted details on how to play properly. I just wish I could've joined the train sooner so I could enjoy this more.
Hope you guys have fun!
P.S. Get a real man to voice Taric and not Sasuke's voice actor Riot. You had ONE job.
