How could I have won this game? Is a mage support unable to carry a poor playing team?

I tried my absolute hardest to carry this game, I was support, I did 46k dmg, had a 62 vision score, and ended up having to cs because my team couldn't keep up with minion waves as well. I tried to play smart, kept myself out of bad situations, defended towers, tried to take objectives -- the entire game I couldn't get anyone to listen or help, and the team was just chaos.

My question is, If I were a bruiser or assassin, could I have carried the game and given us a victory? Is it because at the end of the day no matter how well I played, I was a mage, and that's why I was unable to carry for my team?

Velkoz couldnt unless you got far ahead very early. Your two assassins were feeding and couldnt perform anything either.

The enemy team was AP burst, CC, and bruiser... You could have done it if you HAD a full team, but two monkeys and a single target assassin and a psuedo tank do not make for a strong defense against that enemy comp.

One person can't carry unless there's a major tier difference. Meaning that your team has a smurf. I've seen smurf bruisers carry games pretty damn hard, almost going 1v9.

You have to rely on your teammates if your opponents are on your skill level, but if they are bad then the team is bad, so you gotta accept the loss. Look up the 40/40/20 principle, it's a good mindset for playing ranked without tilt.

Looks like your team fell too far behind and Velkoz has good damage but needs at least some help. You were items behind the whole other team. To be honest at a certain point if your vision wasn't being used by your team you might as well have sold the item 3853 and completely dropped the poaching penalty so you could get better items. Probably wouldn't have won anyway, but you might have had more fun personally.

I would say one of the biggest issues with mage (or mid lane champion) supports is that they are typically balanced around gaining power through levels. Even before this season, they were at a deficit (compared to being played in mid) in the bot lane because they had to share exp with the bot laner. That isn't to say they aren't still strong. Many of them have a lot of damage and cc that gives them a lot of kill pressure when paired with a marksman. This season, Riot is nerfing shared experience even more, which hurts them as well. On the other hand, early game gold is a lot more accessible to supports now, so they are still viable WITH AN EARLY LEAD. And that brings us to your problem.

I'm not saying you could have carried with a conventional support or a bruiser, but they are a little more forgiving in terms of their respective power curve when behind.
