Which Champion should I try out?

I started playing League last year and picked it back up just recently. You could definitely consider me a new player (I am only on level 11) and I am pretty bad at the game. In other games besides League, I usually take on- and enjoy- tank roles or just ones where I can deal a lot of damage. In League I have noticed that it is much harder for me to take on tank roles- I usually end up racking up in deaths- so I am a bit confused as to what role (Champion) I could pull off. The only champion that I play as currently is Annie (Mage). I absolutely love her and her abilities, she does a lot of damage and is very good for farming. Her R ability (Tibbers) would have to be my favorite thing that comes with her, he makes it easier for me to take on champs which is already hard for me to do. The only thing I dislike is that I wish she could take a little more damage, otherwise she would have to be the easiest and most suiting Champion I have played as so far. Are there any recommendations for Champions I can try? I basically want to try a powerful mage (beginner-friendly) which can take damage pretty well

If your looking for tanky characters who deal damage, juggernauts are the way to go. Mundo's pretty beginner-friendly, so I'd recommend trying him out. In terms of Mages, Lux is pretty straightforward, but you can do a massive amount of damage. Also, the reworked Galio is pretty fun, with a moderately easy to pickup playstyle.

Malzahar He's fairly easy to play, his W and E create great lane pressure and his ult is absolutely amazing and tilting (for the enemy)

Veigar Farm for days! Just play safe early game, CS with your Q and wait until mid/late game where you will absolutely delete people!

Akali Not a mage but she's one of my favorite assassin's. Not so good pre level 6 but after level 6 and hextech gunblade she absolutely demolishes anyone.

Ekko His passive is really good and he has a great escape with his ult.

Fiora She is great for diving in team fights because she has good life steal around mid game.

Akali or any other DrainTank is super annoying. I am a bronze and I still get caught up (badly) dueling 1v1 and you seem Akali literally go from 10% to 100% in seconds while you die.

Mages and or beginner-friendly champions eh.... I can suggest you a few examples. Brand: He's immobile and a bit squishy yes, but is very disruptive and packs a lot of punch if you land is combo right or if you can ult to the closest target available in a teamfight. The strat for Brand usually is simply finding the enemy carry, pressing R on him and watch the ult pass to different people in the teamfight.

Swain: Again, very immobile, but wins a lot of skirmishes or fights by drain-tanking everything in sight by turning on his R. His W's needs a little practice to get used to the delay, but the snare's pretty nice. Other than that, he deals a lot of damage for a battle mage.

Ziggs: Fairly simple champion as well. He does have decent CC and mobility but the one thing that defines Ziggs is the insane waveclearing he has. Toss your E then Q into a minion wave and 80% of the time it clears the wave and your W can execute towers. Not to mention his ult does have a pretty huge range and good damage.

Singed: Singed is fairly tanky early, but gets really hard to take down as the game scales up. His poison trail is nothing to laugh at though. Get a RoA and your Q and E's gonna hurt a lot. The main idea for Singed is get people to chase you while under your Q and/or proxy in-between waves. (Proxy - clear minions under the enemy's tower to prevent the enemy laner from pushing.)

Singed is also very easy to play since he doesn't have a lot of mechanics other than E'ing someone into your W.

And yeah, I highly recommend you don't try these champions at an early level in your experience in League:

Zed Syndra Orianna Cassiopeia Katarina Zed Yasuo (most especially this guy) These champs are mechanically intensive and overall very hard to manage if you're still new to League. But once you get the hang of the game mechanics, feel free to play these champs and master their mechanics. Their payoffs if you can execute their kit well is much higher than the beginner-friendly champions I mentioned to you.
