I think this is the best ryze i've ever seen, not because he's broken but because he's how riot intended him to be. He is an extremely late game Hyper Carry and if you have a team that can get to that stage he is extremely strong. With Runeglaive coming out this patch i decided to take him jungle. his passive synergizes well with ganks and makes him very good in 1v2's/1v3's/1v4's and so on. his ult at rank three with 40% cooldown reduction is 24 seconds. that with his passive allows him to have an ult cast every 10 seconds or so. that with runeglaive makes it extremely strong with the mana recovery. I solo'd baron that game. i had a 1v4 at drag, got a quadra and successfully stole the dragon, too. Is he overpowered? no. i believe he's right where he's supposed to be.

I actually ran Ryze through the jungle a couple times earlier today and it worked out pretty well. My first game I was literally just banging keys on my keyboard and I ended up carrying the game with 20K more damage than anyone else and the most kills in the game. I actually used Baron to heal up at one point, lol. He can do a full clear of the jungle on his first time through, but it isn't pretty. I ran a 0/15/15 mastery build and I never had any issues with my mana after my first core items. I also didn't have any issues killing anyone, which was surprising to me without so many of the offensive mastery perks.

The jungle caters to his windows of opportunity, but he just can't compete with many common junglers in the early game. If anyone tries to invade, he has to high-tail it out of there or hope friends are on the way, which opens him and his team up to a lot of pressure early on in the game if someone like Shyvana or Udyr want to bully him around. I'm not convinced he has a competitive potential in the jungle because of that, although I think it would be find to run him through the jungle in normals just to get used to playing him. Ganks are so easy with his root and he just packs so much damage that once you get your core items, it's so much fun catching people out.
