Kogmaw Bortk vs Gunblade

Looking at the stats for Blade of the Ruined king and for Hextech Gunblade I do not understand why most players in every situation buy BOTRK. Gunblade allows you to get healing off of your on hit effects while Botrk only heals off of the damage it deals and basic auto damage which is not that much for Kogmaw. Gunblade makes up for some of its lack of an on hit effect by also having a better self peel (longer range) then BOTRK and the fact that it has ap for his W percent max health vs. BOTRK percent current health.

It really doesn't matter what you build on kog as long as you can press right click.

Kog build a lot of attack speed and on-hit effects which BOTRK both have. 6% of current HP every split second is a lot (espectally to melt tanks). I think AD and lifestal are just bonuses here.

Why would you even consider Gunblade? Kog'Maw isn't about lifesteal or sustain. It's all about melting the enemy team faster than they can get to you. BOTRK does just that with its 40% attack speed increase and the on hit effect. Sure it's current health, but considering you can hit up to 5 attacks per second, it means you will have done at the very least 15% of someone max health if you start attacking them when they are full with only 1 second of BOTRK. Gunblade offers absolutely nothing to Kog'Maw aside from base stats that won't serve much purpose.

40% attack speed and on hit damage that can be proceed with runaan's hurricane is why. Kog'maw doesn't need AP or AD especially when he's building on-hit.
