Why are random team often made only of bad players?

Quick question: why are random solo queue team almost always so bad? I am not a top player but not even such a bad one, and if there is at least another player of average skill on the team I almost always win easily (or at least it's an hard fought game that it's still satisfying). Usually I have 1 in 10 games with another average player, cause 9 teams out of 10 are completely made of players of very, VERY sub-par skills.

Flaming and tilting, farming during teamfight, ignoring pings, afk, trolling, stoned/drunk players, etc etc. It seems I'm a magnet for these kind of marvelous people, and only rarely I get to play a ranked match with people who gives their best.

Is there a way to avoid getting those weird people in my match so often?

I don't have any data to back what I'm about to say up, but I do have a theory. Rando teams being terrible is a function of two effects. The first is that the vast majority of people who play this game are as you described. The second factor is that those who work well in teams and play exclusively with friends will be in 5 mans, so they are excluded from being on your team.

Because whatever MMR and queue you are in happens to be inhabited by bads.

That is all there is to it.

Is it flex or draft? EUW also has a bit of a reputation..

Because the majority of players are not that good at the game. It's basic economics of quality. In any endeavor, there are four kinds of people:

First are those who are talented and work hard. They are the elites; the best of the best, rivaled only by one another.

Next are those who are not talented, but work hard. With enough dedication, these players can become among the best.

Next are those who are talented, but do not work hard. They can coast by on their talent for so long, but eventually they reach the peak of what their natural gifts can achieve.

Finally are those who are neither talented nor hard workers. These comprise the vast majority; talent is considered precious because it is rare, and hard work is the narrow and difficult path. The natural course for humans is to coast by. Those without talent who fail to work at overcoming this deficiency will populate the lowest rungs of any endeavor.

Therefore, in any situation, odds are you're going to find that a majority of the people you're matched with are unskilled at either tactics or strategy due to a combined lack of talent and lack of effort.
