ARAM is too random for a ranked game mode, but TFT isnt

number of random elements, or things you cant control in TFT: champ rolls your opponents each round your items whether or not you even get items what your characters do your starting position on the carousel the actual carousel the items of the champs on the carousel

number of random elements in aram: your champ

why riot thinks everyone plays aram: "because its random"

why lots of people actually play aram: "because riot ruined rift 5 years ago, and theres literally no other permanent game mode"

ARAM isn't actually random. I have some champions (even though I own them all) that over 5000games (Before I stopped counting) that I got roughly 40% of the time. There were... 8 of those I think? Then some that I hadn't seen in over 2,500 games.

I'm not an expert in statistics, but I think that sort of bell curve is out of line with anything actually random. Most of those champions that I got most of the time were common / popular champions so ARAM accounts would own them. You'd expect I'd get disproportionately unpopular champions since I own all. That was not the case.

If we're being honest with ourselves, TFT is the least RNG gamemode Riot has to offer. Its the only game mode where you aren't rolling 9 dice for the competence of your allies/opponents. Its the only game mode where you only need to worry about, and depend on yourself. YOU actually have SOME control of the outcome of your experience. While yes, TFT is RNG based, its still less RNG than SR or ARAM, lol.

Think that'd only be possible if they ranked champions and somehow linked their rank to match a total team rank when they were randomly picked, if i'm making any sense here. This obviouslly would need alot more thought into it but probably make it so that in the end a team is only composed of one of each s, a, b, c and d tier champs. The way it currently is i wouldnt even look at the ranked option, if there was one.
