Darius Q

I've just played Darius in an Aram. This was my first game since they changed him somehow, I was not a Darius main so I wasn't paying attention to his changes. For the record before I am not a Darius main in any sense of the word, I could not play him before his changes due to playstyle 'mismatching'?

I suppose I was appalled by the fact they seemed to 'Clunkify' Darius instead of tweaking numbers to balance him. Darius' Q is essential to his kit as a whole, correct? As far as "New Juggernaut Playstyle" goes either I'm missing something or the old "Juggernaut" playstyle is the same as the new "Juggernaut" playstyle, just with different items. (which do not change his playstyle, aside from a low level mechanical difference in this case)

Anyway, being happy to admit I am potentially / probably at fault. Am also welcoming of feedback, even though I've lost a lot of interesting Darius at this point (though that was pretty low to begin with, OP or not he was not for me, at any stage of his reworks)

But fuck. By making his Q a channel, you guys have killed him. Completely unfunctional to me. I'm going to have to refund him, with a refund I've saved for years. (year?) Darius is completely and utterly unacceptable to me. He was overbearing in some cases to me, true. The ARAM I was playing was a loss hands down because I could not use his Q. I lost the ARAM singlehandedly because there was no way I could use the champion I was given in any way other than a Magikarp! (Flail, and that's it)

Riot ruined his Q because Darius was too overbearing, but to me (someone who does not main him) he is gimp until he gets his ult. To me it seems you've ruined him to anyone who isn't a main. The current state of Darius DISGUSTS me, and I thought he was DISGUSTING in niche situations before. now you've only made the DISGUST consistant.

An interesting thing I've noticed as well is they made his Ult only have a 20s window until rank 3. To me this is an interesting "Power Budget" fiddling, so to speak.

Reply to some comments:

I'll freely admit I'm bad at the new Darius, heck I'll freely admit I was bad at the old Darius. Does not the fact that I mentioned the ARAM I was playing was probably lost solely due to me not count as admitting this? Will also freely admit I'm pretty late with this... realisation. I will still have to either refund him or practice in a significant amount of custom / bot matches, as I cannot use him acceptably in ARAM.

Edit: Seems I cannot refund Darius as my history only shows my last 6 champion purchases. I suppose I will have to either reroll or dodge any ARAMs I roll Darius in, and continue just not playing him in any other mode.

This, pretty much.

Sadly it looks that going forward I'll need to straight up reroll or dodge (which I don't like doing, probably why I'm still bronze) any Darius games I get in ARAM now.

I'm not good at New Darius, and as much as I want the old one back, I admit that the juggernaut playstyle fits him a lot better.

Yeah, new Q is clunkier than old Q. It's a decent trade-off though, considering the power they added to his passive. In general, neither his playstyle nor his build have really changed. However, his kit's better now. Old Darius built tank and essentially only soaked up damage and cleaned up after teamfights. New Darius still builds tank, soaks damage, and clean ups, yet also ramps up to be a threat during teamfights.

The 20s window was already present before the rework.

The comment about his ult was more that Darius' ult started with the reset on kills, then they decided it was healthier if he had a 'window'. Now they've added the reset back to the last rank of his ult? I find that interesting, kinda wondering what it means for his / the ult's power budget.

In hindsight now I've calmed down, I respect the change to his Q as being healthier overall. Now you have time to dodge his Q, whereas laning against him before you had to assume if it was off CD and you were in range, he was going to instantly hit you with it.

Probably doesn't help that my first game was in ARAM like someone said.

...You're a bit late on this one, bucko.

It's not a channel.

It's a cast time.

Uhhh he's actually a lot more stronger than he was before, plus his Juggernaut reworks(including the Q cast time) made him seen tons of spotlight in the LCS. You just have to admit that you suck with new Darius.
