Why does riot hate hard champions?

SuperHornio··2 votes·630 views

Riot really hates champions that are mechanically difficult. For example Gangplank they released and now we nerf him every patch possible, Hurray! While like Garen has extremely good early and late game, sustain literally everything!? And i hate it the most when people brag or spam mastery emote when they main champs like garen. My opinion is that the easier the champ is the worse he should be. So make gp overpowered IF you can make him work (using skill) and make garen meh bcs he doesn't deserve anything good. So if you want to play meta champions you will actually need to have a brain unlike Pants are dragon who is a meta slave, mains champs like soraka, rammus and actually deserves diamond rather than challenger.

"So make gp overpowered IF you can make him work (using skill) and make garen meh bcs he doesn't deserve anything good."

This also shows that you're just terrible at game balance, "hard" champs are not supposed to be overpowered when you play them right, because that defeats the point and intuitive of them even being hard if they're actually just easier in the long run and better.

Not to mention, if a champ is to be more mechanically intensive, they are more flexible by nature especially when used right (more solutions, less prone to counterpicking, etc), which ALREADY is their reward. It doesn't need extra because "omg skillzzzzz"; nonsense like that catering to the fancy-pants like you is what utterly destroys game balance.

............

Game balance means BALANCE. Every and all champs are supposed to have equal total power budget with everything considered, just allocated into different things here and there. The end.

I gave this a million upvotes, but 999,999 of them don't seem to be showing. Well and simply stated. Totally true.

Garen's early game isn't that great, and his sustain before level 11 is rather weak compared to most other champions that do what he does.

That said mechanical skill isn't everything. Game knowledge is the other side of that coin, and Garen takes a whole lot more game knowledge to play outside of low elo than almost any other champion that fills the same role.

You realize what you want already exists in high elo right? Why do you think GP gets nerfed so much? Because bronzies are dominating with him? Literally if someone actually gets to challenger on Garen, IMO they deserve it far more than someone who mains GP cuz they're clearly gifted if they can make Garen of all champions work in high elo.

Have you checked what GP has been able to do?

GP's barrels would be bonkers overloaded even if they were as hard to use as you're pretending they are.

Have you checked how sucky Garen really is in any environment with some semblance of skill?

This has to be a joke

GP is a hard champ? Maybe... if his damage and sustain were balanced. Literally learning to drop a 3rd barrel for a combo is the only challenging thing about him. That's like saying gnar is hard because you want to balance mini and mega forms or renekton is hard because you need to get off auto w auto q and then still dash away before the enemy can trade back damage. He's honestly not remotely as hard as people act like gp is. And with klepto plus ranged spammable q, he can easily out-sustain pretty much every melee toplaner if you have a brain and outscale them while still having potential to straight-up beat them early game. Not saying garen isn't stupidly strong in the right matchups (not vs gnar or teemo basically), but gp is hardly weak or undeserving of a nerf - unless they fix klepto - which I would prefer.
