Pink wards aren't a counter.
You don't carry that many. All she has to do then is bait your pink ward then wait for shroud to go off CD. LOL.
Even still a Pink ward doesn't stop her ability to spell vamp back herself to full health in two attacks while you lose most of yours.
Akali is broken/op/toxic. I have her permabanned cause I'm suck of my team feeding her cause she roams for free kills and teams are too dumb to ward.
Snowballs way too easy. No inherent skill in her kit.
Pink Wards do not counter Akali.
It just finally let's you fight her if she so chooses to remain.
Akali's mostly just good at stomping public games. Her kit's set up to punish players that are out of position.
To deal with her - purchase a pink ward and her stealth cloud is completely useless. She stealths, massive bull's eye for the ward. Really wish their was a ward to make Fizz's Playful/Trickster useless, Jax's Counterstrike useless, or Yasou's Wind Wall useless. Nope. You can obliterate Akali's key survival mechanic and de-aggro technique though.
Also - dueling potential and team-fight potential are not the same among champions, and pretty much always counter-balanced with one another. Akali is really solid in 1v1 situations. She's really not in 5v5 situations. Group up and team-fight and it circumvents a considerable amount of her strengths.
As a marksman, support, or mage - getting caught alone vs. an assassin is there win condition and your loss condition. Don't get caught alone or out of position when facing a champion that's strategic niche is punishing lone, out of position targets.
I laned top against her the other day with Swain, was a nightmare. Even with my ult she was receiving more health than I was off of her spell vamp. I beat her in lane just because she was greedy as all fack, and I had ignite. Otherwise, she could totally out sustain me, which blew me away.
"CC her" doesn't even apply because if she ends with just 1 hp at the end of the CC you are dead and she is back at full health. Her passive is just out of the world, plus she has one item expecially meant to overpower that passive (gunblade), then she has other 5 slots to play with.

Akali(Water) is a counter to Yasuo(FIre) accept that.
Didnt play with akali after speed buff, but before I was able to beat her. But pink - dont be greed. If you fight her, she'll try to wait her cd in invis. If you'll put pink after that - you will able to punish her.

The upgraded Sweeping Lens 
will allow you to see Akali stealthed for 10 seconds.
**The reason Akali is good is because people will stand in her shroud while she's stealthed and let her wait out her cooldowns. **
That is her weakest point, when she's blown everything and needs to get her cooldowns back She drops shroud to make it so you can not retaliate, and kill her when she can't fight back. If you let her get them back and the energy to use them of course she's going to blow you to smithereens.
You guys keeping up the 
argument must realize that it's no the stealth mechanic making her OP but it's the fact that building full offensive she can't be killed in one CC (while most melee carries and mages will perish) and after that she jumps on you, kills you, your family and comes out with enarly full HP.
