Bot Lane vs. The World

Ever since the mord rework everyone has noticed that ADC support botlanes have been apart of the meta for a long time. I was wondering if there would ever be something to break that meta? Something to actually see proplay if not just viable for ranked. With the MYMU coming, can there be something in it that can break this botlanes up? With ADCs going into other positions such as mid and top why not make the ADC bot Lane less viable. Maybe a lane clearing mage and support that just stalls the lane while an ADC such as corki goes mid to fill the role as a marksman. A xerath for an example just rushes mana regen item to constantly poke/clear and sona to sustain him. Diversity is a big thing to Riot so why not make bot lane diverse. The one key to this is better items for mages. This is where the MYMU comes in. Mages should get an item that would allow them to go bot. A new style of play introduced to the meta. If anything mages need new items anyways so maybe one to open up bot lane to them would do more than just help but change the meta!

When I saw this post, I thought it was a complaint about people going 5v2 bot lane. Guess not.

Riot doesn't want to enforce a meta. Any change or introduction that would allow a non-marksman bot lane would be enforcing a meta (contrary to it feeling like not doing so enforces an ADC bot lane meta).

Players choose to run an ADC bot lane because it's optimal. If a better strategy were created, pros would use it to beat the current strategy, and it would become the new meta. Thus, a meta is NOT being enforced. However, looking at the current meta and purposely creating something to disrupt it would be enforcing a meta.

To the main problem with the ideas here: they can go two ways and neither is good.

  1. The new mages / supports would be too much stronger in bot lane that all ADC bot lanes become not-viable. This is enforcing a meta and it doesn't help anything (so now there's always this mage or support there rather than always a marksman).
  2. The new mages/supports are equally viable. This is problematic when over 99% of the game is not 5s teams. It's already fairly difficult to coordinate in solo queue, adding this would mean that your mid laner has to be open to playing an ADC mid. Or your bot lane needs to be open to using this new stuff if ADCs are wanted elsewhere. Neither works very well - what if I want to play a mage mid while you want to play the new mage bot lane? The team is messed up. One of the best things about a meta is that players know what is expected of them in a team, and can create a well-coordinated team in the short period of time we have during the draft. Too many options would make this much harder.
