I am giving up Katarina.

I have been a Katarina main for half a year now, which is when I started playing.

I hit gold III with her within the last month, and I love her every bit! That complex kit, the high skill floor as well as the high skill ceiling, and the outplay potential her kit brings, everything! (I'd be lying if I said I don't love her hentai but if you guys aren't watching lol for it's hentai you'll aren't milking the game for what it's worth [sg-miss-fortune]).

As a Katarina main myself who has played over a thousand games with her, opponents who don't commit blatant mistakes every other second make Katarina's laning miserable and force her to look for roams. I so happen to come across teams often where the bot laners just wouldn't try to freeze the wave and leave no room for roams other than potential turret diving.

But I love roaming. I love creating pressure on the map, and I also love taking turrets and being able to auto attack people to death. Katarina's kit is so shit right now it's either exploit the opponent's mistakes or go bot where your second home is. So I decided to try Talon.

Now I hate to say goodbye to my favourite champion in all of League of Legends. Katarina was one of the first complex champs I had played and it took me ages to get a grip on her, and even longer to start to play well with her to the point where I hit gold III on my second account. I had fallen in love with her kit the moment I started playing her.

However today, I decided to play a champion who does more than Kata, and I was tired of Zed mains having to put in half the effort as Katarina does in order to reap the same benefits, so I tried to play Talon instead as I love doing good damage, as well as keep up with the roaming skills I had learnt from playing Katarina.

I am not even surprised that this guy -

  1. Bursts down targets faster.
  2. Takes turrets easier.
  3. Gets negative armour on mages and many marksmen with just 2 fucking items,
  4. And can still sit there auto attacking people to death.

Compared to this guy and Zed, Katarina doesn't even feel like a real assassin.

Katarina takes ages to kill someone and still can't keep up the sustained damage despite how long she takes to burst people down. Her turret taking capability doesn't exist, and her ultimate while strong can be walked away from.

I've been playing Talon in ranked and 3 matches in, I got to silver after the placements in my new account. Be looking forward to hitting plat soon.

I will play Katarina again should they decide to make her less dependant on gunblade and fix the issue with her, in that she only does well at punishing the mistakes of opponents but outside that can't do jackshit. I never have trouble playing against a Katarina and I doubt any sensible player does.

Until then, thanks for reading and good luck to every Katarina main who still keeps up with playing her. She's more fun to play than ANY other champion in the game and definitely has a very unique kit [katarina-love] .

You're just flat out lying right now. If Kat had literally any trouble in lane she wouldn't have a 55% win rate in high elo

They should delete gunblade and then balance her around her actual self instead of that cancer item.

My problem with kata is early game,shes very weak and i often find myself feeding which means i would be levels behind and literally not getting any gold whick makes a comeback impossibleKatarina

AP assassins outside Akali are way weaker than their AD counterparts, partly because AD items are significantly better and GA and malmortius and PD allow you to stay offensive, while the single defensive AP assassins have, Zhonyas, freezes you in place doing nothing to benefit from its defensive effect.

It doesn't help that Zed's passive gives him the equivalent of 2 free longswords to CS with, it's absurd.

The fact Katarina and Ekko and Akali want to start longsword for CS tells you everything.

Your comparing kat with zed? What. Kat is supposed to get into team fights to try get kill for reset. Then proceed to shred enemy team. Ez 1v5 if you know what you are doing. I’m sure zed can 1v5 but it would be pretty hard and playing with around your cd is necessary... They are just completely different...

Katarina SHOULD have a bad early game if the opponent doesn't make mistakes. Because if they do make mistakes, she can kill them and snowball. And a Katarina who knows what they're doing is probably the hardest assassin to lockdown in team fights (Other than Fizz) without an AoE silence or point and click hard CC. No other assassin has that much AoE damage, and no other assassin actually has a mobility reset.

I dont play Kat, but after reading most of the comments you seem to know what you're talking about. I find league is in a place right now where teams are so bad that you're lucky to even win playing a broken champ. Why bother burdening yourself with somebody who's more difficult to play when your team feeds so hard during laning and doesnt let you help, so the game is over. Lmao.

Felt the same way about Zyra mid and ive been playing since s2 but at least Kat's playable mid she wasn't pushed into a different role.

First off, that isn't how lethality works. It goes down to 0, it cannot put someone in negative armor. Secondly, you have just experienced the skill floor/skill ceiling scenario. You say you are gold with Kat, but you have a op.gg in bronze with a negative winrate as of this season. If you are gold on your other account, that very well might have been luck and now you are struggling with games due to personal skill level (can't tell unless you link the account).

So a (potentially) bronze level player playing one of the higher skill floor/cap champions in Katarina is struggling and thinks Talon who has a lower floor/cap is better. This really does seem like you just didn't have the individual skill to play Katarina as effectively as you played Talon.

I tried her in a 3v3 for the lols (team was premade) and actually stomped with her despite enemy team having TF, Vi and malphite.

I mean sure i couldnt go ahead by myself in teamfights relying on invisibility or anything but if i let my buddy who was playing maokai go first then it was almost too easy.

Then again the build was properly disgusting too, item 3146 +item 3812 was amazing.

I am gonna go ahead and give my two cents on this.

I seriously agree she is fun to play with (maybe not as fun to play against when you pick the wrong champion, but I guess that's already a core-design part of this game). Either way, I seriously have to stress your words when it comes to comparing Katarina with others assassins. That's when we have a real problem. You see Talon and Zed literally bringing Mage's armor into a negative output, and as if that was not enough ... they can just build defensive items and still keep up with their expected damage. LeBlanc can just engage in and out in a blink of an eye and play as safe as she wants in her lane. She dictates the whole laning phase. Not to mention her passive, which is just another getaway (out of the two she has on her R and W).

Now, I am not gonna say Katarina is entirely weak. She is not. But in certain matchups, if you are being harassed the entire laning phase. That's it. You are being harassed the entire laning phase, no alternatives, no questions asked. The only way of you getting back on your feet is if your jungle decides to care about you, or their bot lane is stupid enough to play ahead without vision.

I only have to complain about her E cooldown. It's just tremendously stupid having a 3 second cooldown in early game, especially after you pick your daggers. Even if you E W Q, it takes about 2 seconds to complete that combo. And it's just it: One combo. Something your enemy will eventually get used to. The moment you jump on that dagger to punish a positioning mistake, you are gonna get punished by the enemy's minions and by him. The only way of compensating that is by either trying to AA him or just ... wait for the 3 (or 2) seconds to expire and E out ASAP. But there's one problem with AA'ing as a melee. It's so clunky and terrible. Minion block is so freaking bad, that if all your enemy's minions (or even yours) are agglomerated on your dagger-E-region, you can call that dagger a waste. Unless you really wanna risk it out.

Either way, I can only say her kit's so clunky as hell, that only around level 11-12 you actually start feeling some fluency in it. Until then, you are just there ... with those 3 seconds (or 2) following you, because Riot decided to nerf her to the ground when she was reworked. Guess that's the only thing this balance team's good at. Killing champions or overbuffing them.

My friend is a katarina main, he does super well. Katarina has the kit to get ahead and you’re only g3 so opponents will make tons of mistakes (my friend is g3 and climbing) she has incredibly high burst and AOE Damage.

Okay fine, I'll admit you can do some pretty cool stuff with Kat, but "the high skill floor " actually made me laugh, not even joking. Sucks, but sometimes the champion doesn't fit the meta. Thing is though, if you can get so good at a champion that you can succeed with them even when the world is against them, when the game finally shifts to a state that favors them you're gonna be a god amongst peasants.

Made silver as Wu in past few seasons. But they hurt him bad this season and I just had to admit that he went from bursting down carries like an assassin to having all the effectiveness of a wet blanket in the middle of winter.

Since then, I've yet to find any champion that brings me as much joy as Wu did despite my "hard-stuck" status. Here's hoping that Kat's future is bright.

On the subject of Katarin. Before her rework, she was the first AP champion I learned and was one of the first champions with which I achieved a pentakill. I too hate seeing her in her current state as I would not mind a return to mid lane if only the champions I enjoy could receive some tlc from the balance department.
