Here me out on Ryze.
Ryze is all around a great champion, especially with the VU. He is essential to the game and a big part of the hearts of Summoners. My personal thoughts are not what matter. Riot made this champion a lot better compared to what he used to be but they forgot one thing, playstyle. Changing Ryze into a tank, big mistake. Ryze is literally the definition of the "Mage" of League of Legends. Why is he a tank now? After the VU he isnt even viable as a mage. Changing his Q into a skillshot and his ultimate feels like nothing happens. We want the original Ryze, not saying the new Ryze is not interesting, its just entirely not the same. Change is hard to overcome but I believe this was a bad change. I'd rather he got nerfed 50% and deal no damage than have this new Ryze act like a wanna be mage of League of Legends even though he is the soul of magic in this virtual world. Ryze is literally the reason I tried playing League for the first time back in 2010 when the trailer shows Ryze doing his best, now he is nothing.

Please do not change who he is by what you have done. He is essential to League of Legends and now you might as well rework him one last time.
They also give defensive strats, and if you scale with mana and not AP, why not build tank/spellvamp to survive longer?
