Why am I forced to play Aram?

This is the most infuriating thing this company has ever done. Why am I forced to play aram to get the icon? I can't stand the mentality that aram has to it, and as such i tend to get a bit annoyed. This also goes vice versa, what if someone who dosen't like sr but loves aram, gets something where they HAVE to play on summoners rift? Shouldn't be gated by map, because I'm having the least fun I ever have playing this game, because I have to play with the very mindset I can't stand the most to get the reward.

I am not sure if this is real or not but no one forces you do play aram any more than they force you to buy a champ to get an icon or play team builder to get that 1.....Go get your dictionary and look up "choice" and/or "option"

ARAM is the current "featured game mode"

Much like the Ascension icon, the Poro King icon, etc, you have to play the game mode to get the icon.

There's one for purchase in the shop, too, but you don't see me complaining about having to pay money for an icon.

Well the thing is at least if you choose TF over graves you can get your assists in any matchmade game mode, you only have to earn the gold in ARAM, which 25,000 really isn't that much for ARAM. I have played two games and already have 18,691/25,000. It's literally 3 ARAM games and then you can get the assists on SR if you want.

in order to get the ascension icons you had to play ascension in order to get poro king icons you had to play poro king, in order to get the butchers bridge bilgewater icons you have to play butchers bridge its the way featured icons work m8

When it's a new mode though, I feel it's different. This is literally aram, nothing about the gameplay has changed. There is nothing new to this. The shurima and poro king events at least had new mechanics and gameplay factors to them.
