thread about a certain dead support and why noby picks her

before I begin my rant and receive full swing diatribes at my face. I just want to say that this thread does not apply to higher rank players. I am a lower rank, lower tier, fresh support main who loves to voice my opinion too often. I will attempt to write this thread tonight and fix errors tomorrow. lets begin

Nami Nami Nami

who is she? some of you might know her as a support, some of you might even know she can be played in the midlane. To me she is the Nintendo of champions, she is out of touch with the society and really fits two or three people's needs. the problem with her as of this season is that Riot is trying to sell the support role off to as many players as possible using easy high winrate supports Soraka Jannain order to keep dynamic que flowing. Nami says no! I'm going to make the summoner's life miserable. she is ultra squishy, high risk to the sky limit, and general purpose support rewards.

Her kit is basically bits and pieces of Karma and Soraka but worse. why abuse mistakes with q when I can abuse mistakes with karma q alot quicker and alot better, her w as well. why have a heal that damages when soraka heal and sustain is so much more beneficial and karma's damage is so much larger. why chose nami over soraka or karma when her hp bar is half of theirs. Nami's e is in a good spot, but again her passive is a joke compared to karma's e. Namis' Ult is only good late game which by then she has no late game, unless you were to land a q on a low target (which again I do not see that happening in low elo). why even use a hard high skill champion when in support your job is also to ward, spot enemies, call mia, call flash, call ults, look at enemy builds on tab.

I say no. I have the privilege of saying no to nami, she is not a meta champion, she is not even a good champion. the fact that she is even 52% winrate is held up exclusively by higher elo, higher division players. My goal is to own and control all the support champs but that goal is unobtainable with that stain Riot likes to call a support taking up room in the champion pool. T5'd her at least which is about the only thing I can do with her.

lmao

Nami is a damn good support. If you get paired up with a competent Ashe then it's pretty much auto-win in bronze unless you're playing against smurfs.

Ok Nami has a 7% play rate and a 52% win rate Plat+. When paired with Sivir, Corki, Twitch or Varus her win rate goes to above 55%. What exactly is your point? If she had a 50%+ win rate in bronze her Plat+ win rate would be something stupid like 60%. Simple healing while afk champs, point and click cc and tanks will always have higher win rates in bronze.

You said it yourself, other supports are simply better. Although in lower elos you can play any champion in the game and carry the game. You can have the most fun and main Nami all you want and even use her to climb from bronze to silver to gold and even plat to diamond. Annie isn't the best mid laner but look at the summoner "Annie bot". He's made it to challenger 1 top 50 with simply Annie. You can make a champion yours and make it your bae, no matter how off meta they are. Happy Climbing.

You can't be taken seriously when there's certain people on the boards that use her just fine.

If you can't handle the waves, get out of the ocean. 8D

I think I see a Nami every single day... and I don't play THAT much.

Honestly, they just need to speed up the cast time of her ult - it's so wonky

I tend to pick nami when people take Janna from me. Even though her kit is actually quite a bit different, I find they 'feel' similar in that they both are super squishy but fast champs that get a lot of their power from empowering their adc, so I feel like good Jannas are prone to pick up Nami pretty easily (or at least that was my experience).

I don't know where you consider the line to 'higher rank' to be, I might be getting close though at gold 1. Still I picked up nami at low gold, and she worked fine. There might be better options (e.g. janna) which would explain her relatively low play rate, but she's still decent. Sometimes you want sustain and poke, rather than one or the other, which is why she's not necessarily outclassed by raka/karma.

Bard Janna Morgana Soraka are the only squishy supports that can survive against the current meta Supports: Alistar Blitzcrank Braum Nautilus Thresh Trundle. But hey let's nerf Janna and Soraka while pretending Karma Lulu Nami Sona don't exist. Atleast Karma and Lulu can be played in solo lane but Nami and Sona can't because they have no waveclear. might aswell remove them from the game

Little bronzie has never seen the horrors of a good Nami... when paired with a competent ADC.

Lushington3/31/2016, 5:25:26 AM1 votes

LMAO Nami is so strong. I never lose the lane unless their adc is way better than mine and if that's the case then wouldn't matter who I played. Her early game is so good they usually surrender to your fed adc before it gets to her lackluster late game. You even said yourself Nami cant heal as well as Soraka or dmg as well as Karma but she can do a bit of both. That is her strength, flexibility, the right spell for almost any situation. Her movement and positioning control is not to be underestimated. She is constantly speeding up allies and slowing foes. It's near impossible for most champs to escape a Nami

Also she counters a lot of the meta supports like Braum Alistar Soraka

nami aint dead wtf.... only support i will play

IxtaliKing3/31/2016, 2:28:45 PM1 votes

Lol Nami is really good, she's just not that easy to use well.

RookPusher3/31/2016, 2:33:58 PM1 votes

Of all the champs I assumed this was about...she was not on the list. I'll say the boring part of Nami si the cold-war element of her. You're more of a threat while holding your bubble than throwing it. So to that end, I get that she requires some patience, but no, most people consider her freelo.

Zalieri3/31/2016, 3:18:43 PM1 votes

You can always just play voli support and carry lane

This is a terrible argument, but I don't even need to argue against it at a logical level because it's also wrong. http://www.lolking.net/champions/nami?region=na&map=sr&queue=1x1&league=bronze#statistics ranked bronze winrate over 50% for 21 days out of the last 24.

Zalieri3/31/2016, 3:30:02 PM1 votes

If you know what you're doing on support you can carry the lane all by yourself.

Slack King3/31/2016, 3:33:30 PM1 votes

Fk that, i play nami support when i actually go support She is op as shit she has a heal, and slow/damage steroid A stun and a line nuke aoe knockup

Calabok3/31/2016, 7:37:33 PM1 votes

Nothing is wrong with that fish. Move along

GenghisEmo3/31/2016, 7:45:48 PM1 votes

I only have an issue with her ult.

Q harder to land, but that cc is good. I wish Roka's heal was more nami ish.

I got wrecked by a Nami / MF combo as Kog and Blitz. A lot has to do with the matchup.

Pika3103/31/2016, 7:54:53 PM1 votes

Nami may not be as strong as Bard, but she's a helluva lot better off than Sona is. Mayhaps she's in need of some buffs, but Nami's playable enough to be my go-to support right now.
