After a year of one tricking Taliyah, I would think I'd get use to her current W.

TL;DR Taliyah's W still feels terrible. Giving it QoL fixes or a revert to Double Cast without Lockout would be very appreciated.

People said to "Get used to it." on July 13, 2016 when there were lots of complaints about the change to Taliyah's W. I gave it a chance since I was probably being impulsive and selfish about it.

Boy was I wrong.

It still feels exceedingly clunky and annoying to use as the game becomes progressively quicker-paced and a missed CC skill will make or break a fight. No, it's not because I don't win with her or that I perform poorly with her, thus motivating me to make a post like this. If anything, I win more with her than any other champion I have played in League.

It's the fact that Vector Cast and the lack of a proper targeting reticle feels terrible for a skill like Seismic Shove. It's her main CC skill. It should be more polished than it is right now. Plus I'm a visual learner (Hence why I use Normal Cast to see where I'm aiming my skills in a fight), so I process things better visually. A proper AoE targeting reticle helps a bunch with aiming and I'm sure many people will agree.

At this point, I would definitely take the old Double Cast W back. NOT THE LOCKOUT. The Double Cast paradigm. It feels so much better to use than the current one does. It had:

  • Max Range Cast so it wont force Taliyah out of position just to cast it out of range.
  • A proper targeting reticle.
  • The flexibility to knockup or shove.

The current W allows Taliyah to shove by performing one action. That's it. The current W has none of what is listed and it feels like a slap to the family jewels when I saw these aspects being removed. Worst part is, Vector Cast will not ever have Max Range Cast or the flexibility to knockup or shove due to the nature of the cast paradigm. Unless tweaks are made.

Don't get me wrong. I still love everything about Taliyah and will continue playing her, but I want to make her feel good to play as much as possible. Her W sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of her fluid kit due to its awkward and outdated casting paradigm.

Either revert it back to patch 6.13's version of Seismic Shove or give it a proper targeting reticle and make it work like pings and see how that goes. I can guarantee people will start giving her a try more.

#RevertTaliyah's W

Ah yes, the damn W change.......there's a lot of Riot's shit I'm willing to put up with, this is not one of them.

They take a perfectly fine champ & ruined her because they listened to people who played her once rather than the people who put a lot of time into learning her kit & mained her. I was having so much fun with her. Even when her win rate was utter shit & no one was playing her, I put so much time into playing that she became one of my most played champs in 2016 (remember that 2016 review thing?) & I got to Mastery 6 with her.

But once those W changes drop, it became a struggle just to play her. That damn W is fighting against me everytime. It's the most important part of her combo & I can't even fucking rely on it. Every once in a while I do try her again to reclaim some of that old spark, I learn that it's just not there.

I had some fun times with Taliyah. I guess those times are over.

I feel like her w now is a whole lot better than before the change, in my opinion. It's just so much more reactive for vector cast, than it is to double cast. If they were somehow able to add max range cast to vector cast, it would be perfect.

I miss the Double Cast as well. Although Taliyah''s kit as a whole is still one of the more fluid ones out there, changing Seismic Shove to a Vector Cast made everything feel really sticky and hard to use.

I've played her since release, and while it took me a few practice combos in bot games to get used to her W, it feels perfectly fine to me. This new change breathes new life into her by giving her more versatility through another, sometimes unexpected burst combo. If you know how to use it correctly, it feels neither clunky nor annoying to use. The only issue I have with it is that I have to guess how large the radius of the W is sometimes.

There is no reason for Riot to revert changes that happened over a year ago. If anything, they should adjust it or make a new form of casting type for her W. Perhaps I am in the minority in NA, but I thought her old W was much more difficult to use than the new one; it also felt much clunkier and worse to use, especially once I got used to the new W.

Sooo clunky, it's the reason I stopped playing her.

Remember when Taliyah came out and everyone was flaming DanielZKlein because her W wasn't vector cast?

Get gud:

All jokes aside I know what you mean. It is weird they are trying to make the game more fluid but at times some of the kits feel really clunky instead of the other way around which would make more sense. The game has been out 7 ranked season... SEVEN WHOLE YEARS... Why do some of the kits feel so clunky still.

I'l admit "i got used to it" in that i can cast it properly compared to viktor who's laser is fuck up alot. I don't really play her much anymore mainly in aram.

I do think the double cast felt better BUT the "new" version does force you to shove someone which kinda forces you to do your combo.

I tried her when she was released and found the W horrible to deal with, a new mechanic that i was not willing to learn.

When they changed it i gave it a try, it worked well with smart cast and was very familiar and consistent with other champs i played before (vic and rumble) so i picked her up as my main mid laner.

Okay honestly the biggest issue with Taliyah's W is that it's simply bugged. For such a difficult to perform maneuver, there are spots on her W that will send the target the opposite direction that you intended. If this is going to be such a hard trick to pull off, I at least want it to do what it's supposed to do.

People cried out for vector casting for so long

Malix Farwin7/23/2017, 2:16:29 AM1 votes

Hate to be that guy but Riot probably forgot Taliyah exists, i mean she released over a year ago and still has the base release skin. in contrast, the champions that were popular on release like Ekko got new skins the same year. Sadly i think it will be a long time before they even look at Taliyah let alone change her.

Carteeeer7/23/2017, 4:58:30 AM1 votes

I remember when i first bought taliyah her w was really easy to use then they changed it to be easier but it wasnt easier it was a pain in the ass to use

Euthenaasia8/2/2017, 3:37:01 AM1 votes

Well as we can see, after Taliyah has now received a mana cost increase on Q on the PBE it's quite clear Riot doesn't have a clue what they're doing.

Vier7/22/2017, 6:56:49 AM1 votes

I actually can't use it at all both smart cast and non smart cast. Any tips please?

Subject 57/26/2017, 6:30:33 PM1 votes

I use quick cast on all of my champions - including the W for Tailyah. I one tricked her for a few days maybe a week for support, jungle and pretty much did great - no problems landing w. Though, I didn't play Taliyah when she came out soooooooo

I don't know what she was like lol.

Dominick Destine7/26/2017, 7:12:08 PM1 votes

I dislike Taliyah's aesthetic design.

I cannot in good conscience support Taliyah mains because of this.

Swarovsko7/22/2017, 1:13:00 PM1 votes

I stopped playing Taliyah after that stupid and uncalled W change, and I think they won't even listen to you because she's strong in pro play lol. I can actually see Riot not reverting her W back to what it was just because that would be a buff to an already strong pick in LCS, they nerfed balanced champions with like 50% win rate across all elos (Karma Shen and tbh they nerfed Shen even when he was below 50% win rate) in regular play just because of pro play after all.
