First win of the day and orange essence problem.

Hello everyone,

So a couple of friends and I have been talking about how rewarding Orange essence feels now and it honestly only feels like ONLY the rerolls are worth it. Disenchant doesn't give nearly enough due to the changes, getting a skin shard, ward skin shard or any orange essence is only really waste since you need to disenchant 5 legendaries to get 1 legendary and if you want to disenchant 975 skins it will take 8 of them to just get it and that's assuming you have the luck to get 8 975s and you don't get 750s-. Even with the bad chance lock so we don't get too many champion shards, this doesn't feel rewarding, it only feels paywalled now.

About first win of the day, now it doesn't feel too good, everyone keeps complaining about just how much Blue Essence we get, 50 per day is nothing compared to the 175 EXP we lost, we can approximately get a level up much easier with more EXP and get more BE faster.

This is my opinion towards those changes, what does everyone else think about it?

Edit : On the long run, after level 50, first win of the day is about 3% more worth it the way it is now than before, though I still feel like it's clunky but that may just be me.

And you also receive less key fragments.

Thanks rito

Everyone I have talked to just views it as rerolling 3 into random permanent is the only option. Even epic and legendary aren't worth breaking down for OE with those shit returns.

Riot's greed for money actually made them make less money ROFL no one uses RP to buy hextech chests after the OE change.

50 BE is roughly equivalent to like 160 EXP. I did the math a while ago, but I forgot the exact number, but it was very close to equal value.

The drop in OE disenchant values is to make room for more sources of free stuff. Consider that Honor, Missions/Events, Hextech Chests from getting S's are all new(ish) sources of free stuff that Riot has introduced. And now they've also made Runes entirely free. They couldn't do all that and maintain the original value of skin shards (determined when Hextech Chests were the only source). Not to mention the occasional sales like the "Your Shop" thing.

They are a business after all, trying to run a free-to-play game, and trying to constantly put out new content and improvements to that game.

That being said, no one can deny there are a couple issues at the moment. Like OP said, upgrading shards now feels like a really bad option compared to rerolling shards. (IMO though, rerolling was always the worse option, unless they were cheapo shards. Now, upgrading is more on-par with rerolling. But that's just me.) What's worse is that the value of Chests has gone down, but their price in the store has not, so they aren't worth purchasing anymore. Riot will probably fix that soon. though.

However, personally, what I'm most upset about is the way Riot handled the transition. All existing shards lost 40% of their disenchant value when patch 7.22 hit, and players were expected to disenchant them beforehand if they wanted that Essence. But the warning for that wasn't very good and lot of players "lost" a significant amount of essence on that day, from any shards that they had in their inventory. Honestly, I don't care much about the other discussions people are having about Blue/Orange Essence; Riot has acted reasonably in those cases, and will continue to work on the fringe problems that remain... But the transition was awful and I'm not sure if they can even fix it anymore. (If they have logs of what shards people had before patch 7.22, they could do a retro-active refund, but I doubt that'll happen.) I'm honestly not sure why people are upset about everything except this.

Yah the orange essence changes make no sense. I don't get the logic, "we are making it way easier to get champion shards, and therefore get blue essence. Also you now get less orange essence for skin shards because reasons" what change orange essence?

not a problem if you were to bust out your wallet

SKRRRRRRAT11/29/2017, 4:34:58 PM3 votes

Riot changed it because people were getting too much free stuff

50 BE is pretty much exactly the same as 175 XP @ Lvl 30-40, and it's MUCH MORE than 175 XP @ Lvl 100+

Don't post bullsh*t.

Its true and annoying how little BE we get. B4 this new 50 BE in a day we got much more xp and through that more BE. I was also discussing about how the system went downhill with only getting BE from chests and how making a perma champion takes alot more now. Its bad. So bad and we need someone to make it better. Riot tried to make it better by giving us AMAZING 50 BE!!! WOO NOW I CAN BUY ALL THE CHAMPS!!! [sg-ahri-1]

"With the new system, you'll be getting shards more frequently"... ya right. They're not even skin permanents, but shards. I've said it before, but have a look at how Blizzard made their HOTS2.0 reward system. I don't care if you think the game is casual trash, or not, the rewards system is vastly superior.

Perhaps it's a difficult decision for them to revert the nerfs.

How much is it worth to antagonize the player base? (Is pretty hard to quantify)

PaigeBaggins12/2/2017, 2:00:08 AM1 votes

I 100% agree.

I think missions should reward blue essence while keeping the xp reward for playing games. Make new weekly/daily missions. That would solve the main problems, the orange essence is a trickier issue. Make it too easy, and they'll never make money,... make it too hard and it won't even be worth it. It's all about balance, and right now the orange essence is completely useless to most average players who actually go to school or work, and don't have time to play 24/7

But what do I know, I spend all my money on this game anyway. [slayer-jinx-catface]

Riot please fix this.

Has riot addressed the community reaction to this or do they not care as long as the big names are happy

A lot of people seem to be focusing on losing that 175 EXP. And a lot of these people don't seem to be level 50 yet, so I can understand how they don't understand.

With this most recent change, leveling now evens out after level 50. Meaning that instead of requiring more experience to level up every level (100 at level 1, 200 at 2, 300 at 3, etc. This isn't accurate btw) it balances out after level 50, instead requiring the same amount of exp per level. Gaining 50 more BE per day helps to balance out things overall, and helps to curb over that gap most people seem to be getting with the shard drops.

if riot feels champ re rolls arent fair then why didn't they just make it so we need like 4 or 5 shards to re roll now, i feel if that wer an option us players wouldn't feel so scammed
