Darken Kayn Icon question

Do shut down kills stop a double kill from being considered a double kill? because i got 2 double kills last game as darkan kayn and didnt get the quest done. in both instances the 2nd kill was a shut down kill, so all that popped up was "shut down" by the announcer.
