I play Soraka as a support quite often. Me and this guy, who is apparently from season 2. Got into a fight about countering

I fought that if an ADC got it would counter an enemy Soraka's healing on their ADC right?!

#Appearently I was wrong.

Long back, I don't remember when. I thought riot put a nail into Soraka's Coffin saying: R Wish - (Removed) No longer removes grievous wounds.

Well being Bronze, I knew enemies wouldn't be smart enough to build it.

Patch history V5.22: Now only affects self-healing from healing from all sources. Healing reduction reduced to 40% from 50%.

The fight was I thought it still affected all healing, but here I see that it only affects...

This is why they cut a huge chunk out of Soraka's base healing this last patch. It's almost like grievous wounds is always up unless she lands a starcall.

Who needs star call in the late game where it actually matters you just sit behind the team and heal bot.

item 3083 +3k health.

She won't be healing much with a health tank build. Watch her build AP then fear each heal since it will be MONSTROUS!

most of my support builds are similar to that.

Sometimes i get item 3151 if the other team is tank heavy to help burn though them or item 3157 if AD heavy. Build like you would a mid but make two item slots for the team.

So you get Team slot item 2301 Team slot item 3151 / item 3116 / item 3060 you get the idea, something your team needs. Boots Free: Damage Free: Damage Free: Damage

In low elos this seems to be the best way to win with support anyways. (also been checking out magic pen builds after this brand support one shot me at level 3 and every time i got stunned after)

Oh man that must have been a horrifying experience having that happen to you by a support.

Right now I'm kinda just getting lots of normals in to learn right now since this year I do plan on getting into ranked. Reason: Because maybe it will help me get better at the game and give me a good idea on where my skill level falls.

She doesn't land starcall to replenish the health she spends, she lands it so she doesn't heal for 80% of what she used to.

Ex Calling was arguably the worst item in the game during seasons 3, 4, and 5...

It's not like making Ex Calling actually useful while preventing it from effecting allied heals is allowing Soraka to go wild. Because Ex Calling isn't completely terrible now you're not giving up a ton of power to stop Soraka's self-healing from Starcall or Wish either, which is a net gain dealing with her this season compared to past seasons IMO.

Some counter to her sustain rather than nothing worth ever grabbing is some counter to her sustain at the end of the day.
