Balancing Support Itemization

God Tier Broken Support Items: item 3174 item 3401 item 3092 item 3109 item 2045 item 3107 item 3190 Useless, Underwhelming Garbage Support Items: item 3504 item 2303 item 3050 item 2302 item 3222 item 2301 item 3069 item 3056

There are two types of supports now: tanks and healers. The tanks build item 3401 >item 3107 >item 2045 >item 3190 >item 3109 every game, because why change perfect itemization? The healers build item 3092 >item 3107 >item 2045 >item 3174 >item 3190 every game, because why change perfect itemization? It's unbelievable how homogenous and stupid supporting has become, but fear not, for I propose a solution!

Fixing Broken Support Items: The real culprits to actual overpowered items lie in item 3107 and item 3190. item 3107: The problem with Redemption lies in its massive, free AoE heal that can be built on almost everybody. That being said, what I would do is have it build from item 3114 and item 3108. This would give it less of an incentive to build it on tanks. Now, the values. I'm thinking 50 AP, 75% Base Mana Regen & 20% CDR with 10% Heal Bonus. This would lock it out of being a broken item for tanks and make it an enchanter focused item. Now for tuning the active, I think a 150 flat heal at all levels is reasonable if you add in an AP ratio. Rationally, Supports building AP/Support will have about 200 AP after 4 relatively inexpensive items. This means that a 40% AP ratio on the heal would supply 80 additional healing, making it still useful on supports without making it a worthwile purchase on mid laners. item 3190 : Locket is certainly a much easier item to tune than Redemption because it's simply a weaker item that isn't mandatory for every team. It's just a bit too good when used properly and it completely nullifies assassins. As such, I have two proposed fixes. One would be to make the shield scale with 8% of your maximum HP and not decay while also have it provide 10 more armor. This would make it hard counter assassins less and make it more of an items for tanks. The other fix I'd propose is to make it a non-decaying magic damage shield with the same values.

Now, for buffing shitty support items. I don't think any of the sightstone items actually need to be buffed, because the main reason they aren't used much is because Ruby Sightstone is so strong, and I think that's fine for the game. By the same logic, Mikhael's doesn't need a buff because it's only not used because it's worse than Athene's. Thirdly, Ardent Censer is only bad because AP/Support itemization is too strong right now. The actually bad items are Talisman, Zeke's and Ohmwrecker. item 3069 : Talisman's issues lie in the fact that it's weaker than item 3092 for AP supports and weaker than item 3401 for tank supports. My fix? Build it out of item 3096 & item 3114 . Stats as follows: 2000 gold for 100% Base Health Regen, 150% Base Mana Regen, 20% CDR and 15% Heal & Shield Power. In addition, you could give it +2 Gold Per 10. I think this would be enough to put it into the meta as a viable item for Janna, Soraka and the like. item 3050 : I think the best way to buff Zeke's would be to remove the crit chance and AP elements of the binding and replace them with a 20% increase in damage for 8 seconds. Not only would this make Zeke's a great item for supports, mid laners might even start building it. item 3056 : There's nothing we can do. Jokes aside, I actually think Ohmwrecker is a decent item for tank supports. Try it!

You are then giving item 3107 incentive to be built on AP jung/top and midlaners with shields. You are also making it too ideal/powerful on enchanters.

Adding 15% heal and shield power to Talisman would give supports the ability to have a max heal and shield power of 65%, just so you know.
