If you do the Worlds missions, watch Worlds, or demonstrate any kind of interest in Worlds...

...then you are to blame for Worlds balance patches, gutter-tier "strong in coordinated play" champions like Ryze, high front-loaded burst damage, weak turrets, and all the other problems caused by Riot's focus on LoL as a spectator "sport."

Stop trying to assign blame. Instead, work to figure out a reasonable solution to your problem.

it's like saying if you go putting gas on your car you're to blame for the gulf war.

That's actually pretty close to the truth.

That's a lot like saying you don't understand the principles of supply and demand. Accepting personal responsibility for your actions is the hard part. We were warned about the military industrial complex by Eisenhower in 1961. Learn your history.

all good and well, still you have yet to explain how me and you are responsible for the gulf war hint: we're not, for being responsible you got to have power to do otherwise, which we don't have

another irrelevant assumption that bring nothing to the table.

afterall i'm not here to convince anybody and i can see you want to hold your point in any case, since you started become passive aggressive

so yeah, you're right, i'm responsible for the gulf war and for the terrible patches riot implements, feel free to sue me and have a good day

That we as individuals contribute to policy through our decisions isn't a 'point of view', its reality. Welcome brother.

Sir Prepuzius1 votes

ok

Dope Solo1 votes

And the alternative "point of view" would be that there is no causality. That cause and effect relationships do not actually in fact exist, and by extension there is no reason to ever take personal responsibility for our actions or choices we make. That sir, would be complete and utter nonsense. An individual or populous that doesn't realize the impact of their actions, either in the short or long term is incapable and not able to be considered as cognizant or conscious.

It's more like saying if you go watch "Movie Sequel 2: Return of a Film," you're the reason there's a "Movie Sequel 3: A Film Rises" next year. If there's a demand, the seller will try to fulfill it so they can make money.

that is correct, then why didn't your thread recite "you're to blame if they'll do another worlds after this"?

Because if Riot holds another Worlds tournament, we'll have more crazy balance patches, weak turrets, and other things that Riot does to prop up all Worlds tournaments.

Perhaps I should've said that a successful sequel is followed by trailers and annoying marketing campaigns for more sequels, to more clearly refer to the things that happen around and because of any given movie.

Sir Prepuzius2 votes

sorry but you can't just shift the blame that way. to use your own analogy, is like saying "hey it's your fault that movie sequel 3 suck so hard thus ruining the saga, because you liked so much movie 1 and 2 and they had to ruin it at 3 for milking more money out of it"

First, that is correct; that is how it works. Second, when was competitive play ever a good thing for LoL?

Sir Prepuzius2 votes

the scenario above is correct? with all the involved parties responsible for making a shitty movie, you have to put the blame on the viewers that liked the prequels? Why not putting it to the butterfly that flapped his wings in Amazon?

Uh, because demand is what encourages businesses to supply a product or service?

Sir Prepuzius1 votes

ah, so if a service is poor the one at fault is the one asking for it, make sense T_T

imagine this applied in everyday life, "hey this salad has bugs on it" "well no shit why you asked for it then?"

If you keep asking for it, yes. Asking for buggy salad is still asking for buggy salad, even if you only did it to get a coupon. If you don't want any more buggy salad, stop buying it.

Au contraire: if, say, 100 people watch worlds normally but that number rises to 2000 with the missions, then that's a HUGE indicator of people not giving a ** about worlds, because it means that you have to literally pay them just to make them log in.

Whatever the reason is, they're participating. Riot can then point to those users and say, "see? Popular." Advertisers and sponsors don't care that you had to be bribed with valueless digital tokens, they care that they have your attention.

Currently, 80k viewers on youtube and 131k on twitch, none of those sites gives the quest. Not even counting the people who watch on other sites. You can bet that there are a lot of people who actually give a ** about worlds.

But both of you are saying that we shouldnt watch what we like because you dont like the changes rito makes? Nay....

No, I'm saying that whoever likes this and participates in it shares responsibility for its effects, as there seem to be a lot of complaints about esports balance but then a lot of consumption of esports. Anyone who e.g. watches Kha matches in Worlds had better not complain about Kha buffs.

I can live with that.

The lolesports stream is directly linked to show the Twitch stream. Some of those Twitch viewers were literally only watching for the mission reward like myself. Granted there are a lot of people watching because they want to, but some of them were bribed by reward. It does seem like a lot of viewers, but for a game that has millions of players and teams from every region playing only ~200k between YouTube and Twitch seems rather small IMO. I guess it is only play-ins, but still. Even I'm choosing to watch a streamer over that since I already finished the mission.

it's play-ins and it's on a time slot where a lot of people are sleeping and it's also on a weekday so people are more preoccupied with going to work than watching a game yet you somehow expect them to have massive viewing numbers?

theChibiTina1 votes

I don't expect massive viewing numbers, no. You do have solid points. I also mentioned that it is only play ins. I just personally think 200k is a little small for a world wide event. I would have expected maybe 100k more. Not everywhere is it 4am like EST or 1am like PST. It's 3pm in Korea where it's being hosted when the stream starts.

Yeah but, Korea doesn't have any teams playing in the play-ins so there won't be as many koreans watching vs places like Latin American, Brazil, NA all of who are really early time slot along with it being on a weekday so even less people from those countries will be able to watch just due to work.

China mainly watches from their own streaming sites so viewership is mainly EU and Asian countries. Even then it's once again a weekday so how many people are able to watch the event is still lower than if it would have been on a Friday night or Saturday/Sunday

theChibiTina1 votes

Ah. That makes sense. I don't really know any of the teams outside the NA teams (so C9 for play ins), so I didn't know that. Makes more sense to me. My team didn't make it to worlds, so I'm not as interested in it. Sneaky and Aphromoo are the only two people I really care about outside my team so I'm lowkey rooting for 100T or C9.

Aryan MasterRage3 votes

Yea, doesn't make any sense I have to permaban Khazix and never play Ryze due to him sucking. Just because stupid Riot can't balance the game for normal people. IDC about LCS or worlds, it's boring as fuck. I'd rather watch some random diamond level soloqueue game than pro matches.

How about a nice middle ground of shit tier ranked players?

charge attack1 votes

No. Because they’re shit tier. I’d rather they balanced around top 1% than top 50%. Only nerf something if it’s OP in low elo, but never buff something cause it’s weak in low elo.

Also, your choice of champion shouldn’t get shittier just cause you get better at the game. That’s just spitting on the face of their most dedicated players

People who prefer champions that work better in low elo than they do in high elo do indeed experience their choice of champion getting shittier just because they get better at the game.

Ahh yes as a shit tier ranked player these are what I want

Amumu should get buffed

Jayce should die in a hole

Damage down by 40%

Doran’s shield should give more healing

Amumu should get buffs every patch

Baron should have double its hp

And the last and most important point. Balancing should be done in the east seeing as we are one of the weakest servers in the world.
