Illaoi is not COMPLETELY No Skill And Overpowered.

Hello Summoners,I am an Illaoi main and I love Illaoi's playstyle and abilities. However, everyone who does not play Illaoi tends to think she is entirely no skill. They think that I can just 1v5 whenever and wherever I want to. But the thing is,us Illaoi players may make 1v5ing look easy to other people, but in reality,I need quite a lot of setup time and good timing to successfully get my ult off. Even after I do,there is still the cc and mobility of the other champions to think about. Just because I have successfully gotten my ult off doesn't mean a pentakill, contrary to people's beliefs. Illaoi may be a monster in teamfights, but her laning phase isn't that great. First of all,she has no reliable cc unlinke top laners such as Poppy,Nasus,Gnar,Jax,Shen or even Maokai. This makes trading incredibly difficult as the enemies can easily dodge my harsh lesson's damage as I have no way of reliably slowing or stunning them to ensure the damage. I must also mention that Illaoi has almost non-existent mobility. Harsh Lesson is the only source of mobility Illaoi has apart from her summoner spells. And another point I with to make is: People think Test Of Spirit is a ridiculously overpowered skill, and they complain about how being a vessel for a minute is way to overpowered. The thing is,you must take into account that the casting Test Of Spirit does not reward your mana pool. It also has an incredibly slow animation and is blocked by all enemy units excluding champions. I have often had people complaining that Test Of Spirit is ridiculously over powered in the laning phase, but the things is,if you hide behind your minions, you will not be hit. And another things is: People tend to run AWAY from Illaoi when she rips your spirit out. However, that is the best time to attack Illaoi as she will most likely have wasted harsh lesson to damage the spirit,so you can abuse that to get some damage off of her. Also, the majority of Illaoi players will focus on destroying the spirit,so that is an excellent chance to trade with her without much retaliation from her. Now then, another thing. Harsh Lesson is not exactly ridiculously overpowered. You can clearly see the hitbox of Illaoi's tentacles and they tend to hit slowly without the buff from Leap Of Faith. If you are getting hit by Illaoi's tentacles, just learn how to move. Plus,Harsh Lesson does not have a long range,so If you respect Illaoi, she will not be able to hit you due to her static nature overall as a champion. Another thing is,(this will not happen in higher ELOs) The enemy top laners do not go after my tentacles when I am out of range for harsh lesson. They tend to leave the tentacles there and complain about them when they hit you when they become a vessel. The truth is,when an Illaoi is out of range for harsh lesson, there is little she can do to stop you from destroying her tentacles. If she decides to jump on you,she would have wasted her only engage and will have to fight away from her tentacles, which would give you the upper hand. Lastly, let us talk about her ultimate,Leap Of Faith. I must admit that Leap Of Faith is a naturally powerful ability, but it has it's cons to compensate for it's utility in team fights. First of all,if one is aware enough,it is possible to interrupt Illaoi before she lands, thus completely melting her. And even if there is no way to stop her from finishing the ult,Illaoi will completely melt if you CC her. by the time the CC effects wear off,her tentacles will be close to disappearing, and she will not be able to do as much. Also, people in lower ELOs tend to think her ult is BS as they tend to walk in to your tentacles or stay still, making your job a whole lot easier to kill people. You must also acknowledge the fact that Illaoi is weak without her tentacles and that nerfing her tentacles would ruin her.

I hope that this post has convinced you that Illaoi is not extremely OP and no skill, and I hope that less people will hate her.

P.S. If you have any questions, feel free to comment,I will get back to you ASAP.

Ok think of me playing any meele champ. You say that her e wont hit me if I stay behind the minions. Ok now let's imagine we both are lvl 3 and dont have any kills/deaths/assists, but now she uses her Q to push the wave. This means I will either leave the minions and give her the Chance to e me or I stay inside the wave and take dmg or I will engage on her and she can e me easily. Now the lane is pushed towards my tower and she has time to land her E when I am at my tower while I dont have any minions or will just go ward while I am busy.

Also why should ur jungler waste time on ganking a champ that will be useful anyways by building tank and he will have fun ganking you when illaoi is 6 and has a lead( geez doublekill)

Furthermore u said that I just have to clear out her tentacles and she loses most of her powers in the lane. But explain me how I am gonna destroy her tentacles as a meele when I dont have a lead against her. By trying this, I will give her good windows to land her E and if she does I am pretty much done, because this means I will either go in and will prob lose the trade cause I need to attack her at her minions and make myself vulnerable to enemy jungle ganks and even if I win somehow why wouldn't she just wait for the next wave and sustain there .

Also even if she loses lane and then hits 6 it is just like she got 3 kills and neutralizes the lane.I mean lets imagine I am meele again and i decide to fight her.she will prob go ult me and will win it and if I am unlucky she is also gonna e me and then I can maybe back off and recall if she wont chase me while I am slowed and she will be faster anyways (because of bc passive or iceborns).

I also dont think she needs any skill, because she can buy 1 dmg item, then go full tank and will still deal way more dmg than u with her ulti in teamfights(scales good through the whole game) plus she doesnt even have to care if she loses the lane vs meele champs because she will always get tanky and still be a threat with her e and ulti.I mean srsly i played so many games winning against dumb illaoi's in lane and then all of a sudden a tf happens where she will just run into everyone and press r like every idiot can and get some kills.

If i would play her I would just try to survive till I am 6 and then destroy everything lol. Sry if this is retarded, but in my opinion this happens everytime and besides playing ranged champs i dont know what to do .

No skill? Arguably, but I do not really care about that in the slightest. Malphite is the defintion of no skill and I use him to climb when I do play ranked.

Over powered? Absolutely not. Illaoi is the opposite of overpowered. Honestly, She really just sucks as a champion right now, Riot needs to change the way her abilities work atleast a bit for her to work properly. If Riot were to buff her numbers it either won't matter or it will put her over the top and make her overpowered.

I'm not going to read your entire thread because it's just one big wall of text, you didn't really put any white space. White space is important to make a thread clear and readable, you should work on that :)

Illaoi will have some changes to the way her E works this tuesday, lets see how that works out shall we? summoner 31

I don't ever recall anyone complaining that Illaoi has no skill and is overpowered. No Champion takes zero skill (though some are easier to learn and master than others), but a handful are overpowered, not gonna lie.

Btw, please have a tl;dr or at least divide it into paragraphs when the subject of the topic is changed, it's too much to take in at first glance (just to help get your points across easier).

Illaoi is the definition of a stomper, if she gets you your only option is to get away from her zone and continue the fight elsewhere without taking too much damage in the transition.

This is a lot of straightforward power which is usually associated to "no skill" arguments... which are not always right.

As some1 who only payed against Illaoi I learnt really well that if she doesn't set up the kill she can't do much and her heavy and slow hitting Q is her major factor in this (plus the stress induced by her E). An Illaoi that gets ahead also has some real Teamfight potential if her team mates can slow the enmies down. yet, this is countered pretty hard by making the Teamfight drag a few Teemos behind so that Illaoi becomes a really tough brickwall and if kep under minimal control (and CC) she doesn't bring anything to the team allowing you to win the fight.
