These Rammus changes...why
Saw these changes pop up this patch (out of nowhere to me, maybe there was something on them somewhere on them coming this patch but I sure didn't see it) and my initial reaction to these changes was "why". After playing a game with him I must repeat myself, WHY!? These changes are so bad and aside from making him FEEL bad to play, just making him weaker in nearly every regard now. They contradict each other so much I have to wonder how these went live.
P - Rammus really didn't have much of a passive before. This doesn't fix that, and frankly feels like it's forced to be here with the W gutting.
Q - Rammus's ONLY move to get into a fight. They buff it a bit with level scaling speed and smaller collision box. Fair enough, but why make it channeled now...It's his ONLY way of getting into fights and he can get CC'd out of it now. It overall feels like he doesn't get as much distance per cast as he used too (could just be me, but I could have sworn you could get out of base before homeguards kicked in.)
W - Short answer, gutted. Long answer, holy hell it's gutted. You get next to no base stats, which equates to you now have a massive weakness to magic damage since the rest of his kit NEEDS armor so heavily now and building MR gets you nothing in your kit. The damage is gutted since you not only lose the reflection from the enemies damage, but it's gimmicked to be your passives damage with a SMALL buff. (I only was able to get it to 70 magic damage with W up in my game I played. Thornmail was doing more than that.) And then to top it off you self slow yourself by 60%. 60%! Rammus is already a fairly low mobility champ, and now when he gets into a fight he cripples himself? Awful.
E - Why is this skill trying to make Rammus an auto attacker. No really, why? Not only that, but combine this with your W self slow and good luck hitting people. This makes NO sense, and just further lowers your use. Losing the armor shred for attack speed on a champion that has nearly NO REASON to auto is so idiotic I just don't... why?
R - The only thing in these changes that's a nice addition. Nerfed the damage (cause that's the theme here as far as I can tell) to add a stacking slow. The slow is nice, but Rammus hardly did damage with this before and nerfing the output while everything else in his kit got weaker as well is so ridiculous.
The point of Rammus before was to lock someone down and make them vulnerable while they were force to attack you in a frenzy. These changes are LITERALLY flipping that, making you vulnerable as you try to attack someone in a frenzy. This better not be the "big Rammus rework" that riot said he needed. (doubt it, but still)
