Pantheon Rework suggestions
Hello everyone. Today I am going to share with you my suggestions for a Pantheon rework. Pantheon needs a rework because of several things:
- Super uninteractive laning
- Brain-dead champion with very low skill ceiling
- Bland and old kit (His q literally just does damage and that's it) The point of these suggestions are to do the following:
- Make his kit more interesting
- Give him a higher skill ceiling
- Make him more interactive to lane against
- Make him more useful in teamfights
- Retain his identity I have not put in damage, mana, cooldown, range and some other numbers in the suggestions, because those are up to extensive discussion and testing. Anyway, here's the suggested changes:
P – Aegis Strike Pantheon gains stacks of Aegis Strike by using abilities and basic attacking. When Pantheon has 4 stacks, his next basic attack gains bonus range and effects depending on the targets’ distance to Pantheon: Short range: Pantheon deals bonus damage and lowers the target’s armour Medium range: Pantheon leaps to the target and deals bonus damage Long range: Can only be performed on champions below 30% of their maximum health. Pantheon leaps to the target Pantheon cannot perform long range strikes with his sword.
The point of this change was to give him more broad windows of power. His old passive was only useful in very particular matchups, and otherwise wasn't too noticeable. Since this is Pantheon's only reliable engage now, his opponents can look for clear opportunities to go for trades. Since he gains less bonuses depending on distance, its a little easier to play safe, especially as a tanky champion. He can still gain this passive easily through abilities, but he will run out of mana quickly, and may lose overall effectiveness in he spams.
Q – Spear Shot Pantheon throws his spear in a line, dealing damage to all foes in its path. The spear then remains in the ground for 5 seconds. When Pantheon does not have his spear, his basic attacks are replaced with a sword. He loses range and deals 10% less damage. Pantheon can pick up the spear to lower the cooldown of Spear Shot by 70% and also grant him bonus attack speed. Enemies can destroy the spear by standing on it for 1 second. Pantheon automatically regains his spear when this ability is off cooldown.
This new ability grants another window of power for Pantheon's opponents and himself to play around with. This ability is now a skillshot that when used, temporarily weakens Pantheon. However, if Pantheon can grab his spear back, he'll gain attack speed, and also reduce cooldown. But if he goes in and his opponent destroys the spear, he'll lose damage and attack range and will likely lose trades against even matchups. Pantheons old q does not need explaining, for it is a incredibly bland uninteractive ability.
W – Shield Bash Pantheon bashes with his shield in front of him, dealing damage and briefly knocking back all foes. He also destroys all projectiles with this attack. When Pantheon strikes a champion or blocks a projectile with this ability, he gains Aegis Protection for 8 seconds, which blocks the next turret shot or champion basic attack.
This ability adds to Pantheon's skill ceiling by giving him a reward if he reads his opponent well. It also gives him better teamfighting potential, since he can peel for his teammates and disrupt enemies.
E – Heartseeker Strike P - Pantheon strikes foes weak points with his basic attacks, causing them to critically strike foes below 30% health A - Pantheon strikes 3 times in a cone in front of him, dealing damage to all foes within. Deals 50% less damage to minions. When Pantheon has his sword out, the width of this ability increases but the range decreases
Pantheon's heartseeker strike remains mostly unchanged, as it was one of his few abilities that was relatively balanced.
R – Grand Skyfall Unchanged
Pantheons ult is the same, since it is one of his most signature abilities, feels cool to use and also is telegraphed and balanced. The only change i would make would be to instantly stack his new passive upon landing, which would make sense.
