Could someone explain to me what placing a rank in the preseason flex queue does? Like is there a point? Does it give rewards when season 7 starts?

it will be reset again and you need to do your placements again.
but you can still gain/lose MMR now which will affect your season start placements in a month.
It will put you in bronze 5 if you are challenger
The higher you get in preseason, the higher you will place when the real season starts if you win a decent amount of games.
