This meta is so boring, I actually want to quit playing the game.

With the addition of the new AD itemization and the priority on crit chance, Riot has created a new meta where the focus is around who can deal the most damage and dish it out the quickest. And while that offers a lot of chances for mechanical outplays, it has largely lessened the strategy behind the game.

When I first started playing this game almost exactly a year ago, I played this game for it's diversity and it's versatility. No 2 games are ever alike, no 2 champions are the same. You have mechanical skill and strategy tied together in one game - not only do you have to perform well personally, you also have to work together as a team. And that was what made me like this game so much.

This new meta is so much less about teamwork and more about who gets the most fed and who can solo carry the game better. Vision is so weak right now, it's hardly even able to be strategically used anymore. Vision was nerfed because it was too overwhelming when a team was behind, but these nerfs have made keeping vision up even harder when you're behind. You'd think people would get used to the new vision system by now, but just the other day, I watched an IEM game and internally shed some tears at the sole freedom teams had to put down as many wards as they wanted to.

The problem right now is that everyone just simply does too much damage too quickly. You have juggernaut toplaners, carry junglers, ADC's that "do damage" now, assassin midlaners. Everyone does so much damage, it's no longer a game of who can get the better engage, better positioning, better coordination in teamfights, but who can land all their skillshots, dish out the most damage and kill the enemies before they get killed. The reason why a champion like Sivir, who's primarily strong due to her ulti, is weak right now is because running at people really fast is no longer the most optimal way to engage in fights. The most optimal way to engage in fights now is simply to deal damage.

Damage over utility.

Games are extremely one sided and it's been a really long time since the last time I've had a game where every fight and rotation counted. Where objectives were contested, not just freely given up. I really miss those hard earned wins and I'm really starting to get bored of this current meta because it's just the same thing over and over again - people running at each other seeing who can burst faster.

While I know saying that I'm going to quit the game isn't going to do jack shit, I still want to say that I think the current state of the game definitely isn't healthy. If anything the overall damage output of the game just needs to be tuned back in general. I don't want to say nerf ADC damages, but I think ADC do need to do a bit less damage than they currently do. The new items make them simply dish out way too much damage, which in a way, broke the game.

its just a consequence of a terribad design which fawours getting money due to flashines over getting money due to providing a good game

our tanks still cant directly do their job since season 1 (yup ... they are just fighters to me ... their damage to tankyness ratio is just different) except for braum who is manly

our role interactions still suck, adc is the strongest role countered by assassins or a quick detonation due to teamwork, tanks and fighters are basically the same thing, assassins are whoever knows what right now cause they have no defining feature, supports are just handicapped champions that are kept in games only because someone is getting gold starved anyway and they also have very little defining features

strategy no longe exists here ... what do you even want to plan out ? the only thing that you need to sort out is how Will you juke skillshots with dashes

I agree witht this 100%. I feel like there is no more "skill" in the game. Build speed and lifesteal and you can stand still and "outplay" the other person. The outrageously toxic community doesnt help much either. Talking trash when they get a kill cause of the stupid proof meta we are in right now. They literally made this meta for ppl who are too dumb to grasp the concept of this game. Ppl who have no clue how to play but think they belong in gold just cause they play the champ that is good for the time being. This meta is way too accessible for morons to win purely based off of build and not skill. Granted, thats not always the case but Ive seen moron vs moron and the one with the better build always wins. This game is going down the shitter fast. Theyre more worried about cosmetics (i.e. champ select) than they really are about how balanced the game is.

And then they release Jihn, someone who has more burst than a draven. Everything he builds gives him AD...

While I agree with some of your points (vision is indeed an issue) I honestly believe that Tanks, specifically Disruption Tanks/Fighters have a much bigger effect on the game than you give them credit for. Some of the most effective and powerful Heroes right now are burly fighters who can take damage, dish some out and lock down opponents. Champions like Tahm, Mundo, Trundle, Gnar, Rek'Sai, Nautilus, Alistar, Poppy are all being picked right now and are equally successful in both Solo-Queue and Competitive.

This^

If you want to know wich team is going to win now, just look at how much damage each champion on each team can deal and that's it. Every champion that shines right now is a heavy damage dealer, MissFortune with her 3k damage ult who can crit (why not), Lucian and his one shot oriented kit. Mid is full of Zed Yasuo and let's not talk about Jax jungle, I only play draft right now just to be sure I won't have to face him, and even when I'm not banning I don't care because I know he will get banned anyway, he always is (sorry Jax players)

Supports like Brand Velkoz Lux are doing well because they deal more damage than other supports and their poke is so heavy it can't even be healed by champions who are considered to offer sustain (unless you are Soraka, this bitch can heal 9012137198K in less than 10 seconds).

The only tanky champions that shine are the one with incredibly ridiculous built in damage (Illaoi and her 1000% AOE ad damage with her ult, Darius with his axe spin and passive and DrMundo with his HP scalling, innate stronger version of sunfire cape and flat damage on Q)

I miss being able to play champions like Sejuani Sona Orianna Morgana and win a teamfight because I made a good play with my ult, now whatever I do If they have more damage on the other side they will win...

The game isn't about skills and teamwork anymore, it's now about what champion you have on your team.

@Livia the rose I'll be honest with you. If you think about quitting LoL, then quit. Riot has shown numerous times how much they care about stuff that is important to players.

You won't see any healthy changes untill Rioter Repertoirs 1st update on mages. And even then it might end up only in slight shifts in numbers leading to nothing.

There are lots of MOBAs worth checking out while taking a break from LoL. And maybe, just maybe Riots policy of showing middle finger to players will change in xy'th season

The game is so much snowbally that it's (not always) impossible to establish a strategy to counter the ennemy team. It's very often a question of who has the biggest burst, shut down one people when you're fed and you get an inhibitor.

The problem is that there are too many assassin/fighter mains who want the game balanced for them (item buffs, thunderlords which was implemented SPECIFICALLY to help assassins alongside the broken penetration mastery) to 1v5. As an ADC main, i'd gladly give up a bit of individual damage for a more strategic/positioning oriented meta based around tanks.

its been like this for some time but more recently has been more potent

right now i'll gladly pay the 40 bucks for overwatch

Starfish H1/17/2016, 8:23:04 PM1 votes

And the tank metas wasn't? Every single fight everyone else would die and then it would be up the tanks to win and it ended up looking at a really tanky minionfight.

This is the style of game Riot obviously wants. Quicker games with more flashy plays for the LCS scene. The long drawn out games are pretty much dead. Yes, they still do occur but the game is so snowbally its hard to come back.
