Please consider taking a look at Sion's current state (Especially Jungle Sion!!)

Idk about anyone else here who mains Sion, but to me he honestly feels terrible to play as recently. I hate that his Q does barely any damage early-early mid game, and his E doing next to nothing in terms of damage the entire game except for armor shred. I guess he's technically balanced considering he's about 50% winrate even, but that's with a now record low sub-1% playrate. I suppose most tanks are doing quite meh right now though.

In my opinion, I think his twice-buffed W passive is the problem here. I wouldn't mind it being reduced back to 3 per minion if it meant adding some damage back to his kit. Unlike most tanks, Sion's abilities are way more telegraphed and have clear ways to avoid them. Thus, you should be rewarded more than you are now for hitting a fully charged Q early on. That was the case back then, but now it straight up feels like you couldve auto'd twice for the same amount of damage. Essentially, he shouldn't be terrible very early on as well as later in the game. It just causes the champion to feel super weak early then feel strong and then feel useless later on.

I appreciate the acknowledgement of AD Sion by compensating his base damage nerfs with Q AD ratio buffs, they still leave him left with a terrible early game. and tank has seriously been lacking in comparison lately too. I'd rather try to blow up the ADC with AD Sion mid-lategame rather than get kited/CC'd then melted by their carry as a tank. Of course,

Now a place where the nerfs really hurt is for Jungle Sion. Now that is quite an obscure pick, but prior to the nerfs Sion had a very good early clear but was still fair considering his ganks aren't very great until he reaches Lvl 6. The nerfs to his Q, W, and E hurt his early clear quite a lot. I would love to see a buff to his Q damage against monsters, because it does deal reduced damage against them. I would suggest increasing it back to 90% or 100% damage against monsters depending on if his E ever recieves any damage buffs.

Thank you for reading my suggestions/rant, and I patiently await Sion's return to his former glory (in top and the jungle). Until then, I will one shot with AP Gragas instead.

You got it all wrong bud. Sion's role is not to be doing heavy amounts of damage but tanking heavy amounts of damage. Sion's Q is a very strong spell especially early on with its max damage being 300 and and scaling with 225% ad, making it a very good spell if you know how to land it. Of course, there are heavy counters to Sion Q like Irelia or Fiora who can just block/dodge it very easily and regularly but other than that, it is a solid spell. His W, is a very, very good shield late game and not so good early but as you start adding points to it becomes good to very good. His E, is not supposed to do damage, it is a spell made to help Sion land his Q since the enemy is slowed and deal as much damage as possible. And again, Sion is not meant to be a heavy damage dealer. If you expected him to deal high amounts of damage when you started playing him, then you are playing the wrong champ bud. He has a low cooldown long range stun which when comboed with his ult in a teamfight it increases the chances of winning the fight by very, very much and then he can just go ahead and tank for half eternity with his w (depends on the enemy team comp of course). Now, Sion jungle is...was, a very good pick as you already mentioned. It was a very good pick because of his all in combo and back then, there weren't as many escape abilities and oportunities to dodge it as there are now. That is why many old champions who used to go jungle (Maokai, Malphite, Sion), are not so good anymore and there is not a single reason to play them over someone who can constantly lock down enemies (like Sejuani) and also being tanky. Personaly, I rarely play Sion at toplane anymore because toplane is won or lost at champ select and when you are first or second pick and you decide to pick Sion, you will instantly get counterpicked, and I find myself to play him midlane where he is...amazing to say the least. All in all, Sion is not anywhere close to weak right now but he like many other tanks, is not at a good position and there are way too many champions to counter him. That, is his only weakness.

Sion is incredible, just not in the carry-top-laner meta in solo Q imo.

More damage on sion would help, but that’s not the solution - solo lane tanks would still be poo and sion would end up getting the damage buffs reverted in time

I play a lot of sion and right now with conqueror and fighters all around, it’s hard to deal with the pressure in lane beyond the first 6 levels barring jungle help. I’ve been building zz’ rot to help mitigate the lane pressure and impact elsewhere.

TL;DR hang in there for when tank spanking fighters fall out of vogue
