I am a silver sion supp main. I have essentially been one tricking him as supp once I hit silver but I am starting to realize, he is not good in lane against ANYONE with skill shots. Usually my strategy with him is to take q level one, and bully with that if the enemy laners try to walk up for CS. But as I am climbing higher people are picking things like Taric, thresh, leona. As sion is in his q he is immobile. So it essentially makes me a sitting duck. I think the way to counter/win matchups like these, I take e level one and max it. Any thoughts or tips in what I could do. Should I be playing something different?

I think you should play other roles so you can understand lanning, trading and game itself.

maybe pick up another champ for those matchups. Someone who has poke and shields like Karma, or thresh or Blitz for the utility of the q. Especially cause not many people dodge hooks in lower elo

Maxing e is often the way to go vs thresh and blitzcrank the armor shred is powerful and if you're in a superior position they're often forced to blow their hook on you instead of your AD, and your main source of cc has a reduced cd if you get cc'd while channeling it. so more then likely you'll be pulled into a position to win a trade after that, Leona is a game of patience and being a bodyguard for your adc and ccing her as she zenith blades to your carry.

Taric is someone you should poke and force him to run oom with an E max, he cant do much if he spends all his mana on healing up a lot of poke.
