Riot Should not release the new grasp of the undying to live servers

On PBE servers right now, Grasp of the undying is going through a minor change that in my mind could break the game.

(BTW I am silver and I know that I am bad at the game so take this all with a grain of salt because i might be reading this wrong or I just might not see it in the same way as a diamond or masters would)

So what is the change? This is how it is written on the PBE:

Grasp of the Undying

  • Changed from [Deal bonus magic damage equal to 4% of your max health] to [Deal bonus adaptive damage equal to 3% of your max health]

  • Changed from [permanently increased your health by 5] to [grant you bonus adaptive Attack Damage or Ability Power based on your max health until exiting combat. This effect can stack.]

  • Adaptive note added: Adaptive AD or AP is equal to 1% or 1.6% of your max health, respectively.]

There is also a note about ranged champions no longer getting two permanent health points but that's not that game changing. So I will now explain what exactly this means for the game. Lets pick cho'gath first because his ult lets him endlessly stack health. Let's say it is 25 minutes into the game, close to the average game length this patch, and cho'gath has 6 stacks on his passive and more than likely, has gargoyles stone plate, warmogs, and tabis. They might have a ruby crystal. So in total they probably have around 2974 health. Lets say the now use gargoyles stone plate in a team fight. Their health just went from 2974 to 5948 health. But this part is all normal. Team fights last around 20-30 seconds meaning that chogath will be able to proc grasp ~7 times. So by the end of the fight, even if he builds zero ap, he would have a total of 666 ap. He would be gaining 95 ap per proc. I think this would make something like tank xin zhao viable or tank jax.

Feel free to leave thoughts in the comments and I will respond to any questions or comments I see

Edit- I didn't mention the 60% damage reduction on gargoyles, might be more effective if you don't buy it.

i like current grasp, i just wish it wasn't so frequently unsatisfying in a lot of situations (especially ARAM where it promotes suicidal gameplay LMAO)

if there wasn't so much damage flying around in the game it'd fit right in

Cho'Gath is a unique champion that can't really be used as a reason to not include something in the game. He will be changed, not the mastery. However, I don't think this is the right way for the mastery anyways as it would undo everything they have done to make Tank Ekko, Fizz, and the likes not good (aka nerfing base numbers, buffing AP/AD ratios).

Riot's balancing team has so much talent! Make League of Legends great again!

Tank Ekko anyone?

That's not on the PBE right now, I have a PBE account. They scrapped the idea since before Christmas. Grasp is remaining as is, and they plan to introduce a new Keystone in Resolve in addition to the three already there.

That version was confirmed to not be shipping weeks ago, although it's apparently being replaced by a new keystone at some point.

That version has been pulled before christmas already. It was an exploration into possibilities, but was not found to hit the right note as a replacement for Grasp - but we could see a similar Keystone in the future.
