Muting player is used as a punishment

Muting players nowadays is used more as a punishment than actually blocking out toxic people. People just mute other people to piss them off nowadays if they're mad.

People who are toxic mute people now not to block out toxic people, but it's actually used more as a punishment now instead of actually what it's made for.

There is nothing we can do about this, because removing the mute feature is like removing car horns. Even though 90% of people use it to be an asshole, the 10% who use it for its actual use really NEED it. So this was made as a message to people who DO do this to fucking stop. You're not hurting anyone but yourself and your chance of winning, and therefore hurting your whole team's chance of winning.

Why did I make this post? I just got muted for not building sightstone.

who cares if someone mutes you? You annoyed them, they have the right to not listen to what you say. Idk what it really matters. Yes, if you were contributing to the team effort with helpful input maybe they are losing out on that, but let people do what they want. You do you. You know?

I'm not sure how it's punishment to you if they don't listen to you. Unless you're that egotistical

There's always one of these kids. Refusing to communicate to the team does not do anything but hurt your chances of winning. I never annoyed them, I just didn't build sightstone and they muted me without even telling me.

First off, you have to realize that when someone just tells you right in front of your face in the chat, "muted" shortly and bluntly, they expect to piss you off. That's the punishment. When you actually mute someone to mute them, you don't say "muted", you just mute them. I'm not egotistical, they are. They are saying not being able to talk to them is a punishment, you're misinterpreting everything. People just use muting as a punishment to other people now, saying "Not gonna talk to you anymore bye shut up" in 1 word.

Okay. See now that's a-whole-nother story. When I originally read this, it made it sound like anyone muting you for any reason was punishment to you. I can understand how by saying "muted" and then muting a player it seems like a punishment. However, it's only that way if you make it so. Honestly, just ignoring the immature little shit that says that is fine. They think they got their way but didn't. And half the time saying "muted" the person doesn't actually mute you. They are just trying to piss you off. So don't give them the satisfaction and just continue playing the game to the best of your ability, and don't make any comments towards them. I don't think that concept is that hard? If something you are saying is tilting them, sometimes it's best for them to mute you. Hell, I told my adc yesterday "hey man I'm gonna go ahead and mute you, nothing against you but I'm already frustrated and I don't want something you say to set me off". And muted the player for the rest of the game. At the end I thanked my adc for playing well and they thanked me for keeping my cool for the game and trying my best. For the few that use it for punishment there's just as many that use it to help themselves.

Anyway my dude, sorry for the misinterpretation. I read it in a different tone of voice, common problem on the internet. No need to insult me for disagreeing with a lot of people. I go to disagreeable boards like "I don't deserve this ban" when they clearly do. I'm not here to agree with people, I'm here to state my opinion. I wish you the best of luck with your future games and my advice is to just not let the people that try to mute you as "punishment" get to you. Good luck on the rift!

I don't know why I shut you down now, I just went through your boards history to see if you were "That" type of person, and sure enough, you were. You never agree with anyone or any post at all, and you always find the largest misinterpretation of what the person is trying to convey in order to disagree with them.

You've never agreed with anyone before, and you refuse to see other people's sides of an argument.

Excuse me? Just because a lot of people on here have a differing opinion than mine doesn't mean that I'm "that" type of person. You're really going to use that argument? When your argument is that it's a punishment to YOURSELF if someone else mutes YOU. Half the time you don't even know if someone muted you. I don't tell people I'm muting them. I just mute. But go ahead and say more. It's cool.

I mute distractions.

If you took the time to say that during a game I would mute you.

I win more games when I /mute all.

There are 3 types of toxic people in this game.

1.) People who intentionally troll with builds and feeding.

2.) People who flame and bash all game in chat.

3.) People that call everything toxic, and refuse to stop talking about how toxic a person is or an action.

You fall into category 3.

The model and platform of this very game enable toxicity. The best way to minimize it is by muting all, at least by that you elimitate two of the possible 3 toxic players.
